The property's rural location offers peace and a chance to enjoy nature, though some found it a bit remote. Overall, it provides a memorable and relaxing retreat.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently describe the property as immaculate, clean, and well-maintained, indicating a high standard of cleanliness.

The rural setting is appreciated for tranquillity and natural beauty, though some guests note the remoteness and access via narrow lanes as less convenient.

The majority of guests find The Music Room comfortable, mentioning its cosiness and spaciousness. A few guests had issues with the beds and furniture, slightly affecting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-received, with special mentions of the piano and projector. However, comments about the need for TLC on the piano and minor maintenance issues lead to a slightly lower score.

Guests are touched by the thoughtful welcome pack and fresh flowers, although it's noted that such gifts, while delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

The Music Room is a very special conversion of a Grade II listed property. Once recitals and concerts resonated around the lofty ceiling now it provides magical and unique accommodation for two to enjoy a romantic break. Head up the steps and through the door to the huge open plan living space which will take your breath away, with colour shining through the big stained glass windows onto the vaulted ceiling and the shiny wooden floor, warmed by rugs and the wood burning stove. Make your own music on the grand piano (Collard & Collard 6.5ft antique piano) or turn on the home cinema projector and surround sound system, to enjoy an atmospheric movie. Sleeping arrangements do not come much more romantic than this, with the four-poster bed beautifully arranged on the stage where musicians once performed. The Music Room is a wonderful retreat for couples. Note: The Barn can be booked with The Gallery, The Pottery and The Barn and together they can sleep 14.

Aveton Gifford is a small rural village on the banks of the river Avon. Nearby is the busy little town of Kingsbridge at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of south Devon.

It was very clean and well equipped. The owners were very friendly. However it was more remote than we would have liked up small winding rooms with passing places. We like to be able to walk to pubs/shops in a village but didn't feel we could do this as wouldn't be comfortable walking on such small roads. There were footpaths but these we believe were over fields.

A beautiful and quiet setting and a very unique building. I loved practicing on the Grand Piano, it was a real treat. We had everything we could want and our hosts were lovely, friendly and helpful.

We were made welcome by the owners who couldn’t have been more helpful. The location is excellent for exploring the Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Plymouth areas. The facilities are excellent. The CH worked well and we were able to cook meals properly and enjoy a good, freshly brewed coffee afterwards in front of the log burner; very cozy. The shower in the bathroom was really good too. It is a beautiful, well maintained property and discovering that it had once been a chapel explained its very high ceiling and wonderful partial stained glass windows complete with shutters; I would imagine it would stay cool even on the hottest summer’s days. Because the satnav didn’t accurately take us to The Music Room, we thought about adding ‘what3words’ but perhaps this is something Nick might consider doing for n the future.
