Snaptrip says

The Barn in Devon is praised for its fantastic location, generous space, and warm hosts. Guests appreciate the property's peaceful setting, modern decor, and the opportunity to explore local walks and the South Devon coastline. While some minor maintenance issues and comfort concerns are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests willing to recommend and return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is generally described as clean and well-kept, with specific mentions of it being 'spotlessly clean' and 'immaculate'. However, one mention of a dead mouse under the oven suggests occasional lapses, likely due to the rural setting.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, proximity to beaches, and beautiful surroundings. It serves as a perfect base for exploring the South Devon coastline and local walks, contributing to a very positive perception.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. While the property is described as cosy and child-friendly, there are comments about uncomfortable sofas and only satisfactory beds. The upstairs area can get warm, and the downstairs can feel clammy.

Facilities are well-regarded, with the property being well-equipped and having a fully equipped kitchen. However, there are several mentions of minor maintenance issues, such as a broken shower head and cupboard door, and suggestions for additional kitchenware and heated towel rails.

While guests mention the lack of a welcome pack and personal touches like drinks mats, there are no consistent references to gifts or additional thoughtful gestures that would allow for a fair assessment in this category.

About this property

The Barn is a reverse level cottage overlooking the courtyard. Beautifully converted, it is warm and welcoming accommodation for small families or adults all year round. On the top floor you will find the hub of the cottage, a big lofty open plan living space with cosy rugs over the wooden floors, pretty watercolours, French windows to a balustrade letting in the light, a traditional wood burning stove and a well equipped kitchen area where you can sit and enjoy leisurely meals. Head downstairs into the two en suite bedrooms, both of which open to the courtyard. The directions to find the property were really clear and comprehensive. The property was absolutely immaculate throughout and the homemade scones and jam were wonderful on arrival. I would note two things, in case these are a concern for you; the owners live on site but for us this meant that then we had a question about the recycling and wifi, they were on hand to help out. Also, for The Barn, there is no private outdoor space, it's all shared with other guests and the family. There is a lot of space to explore, however, which we enjoyed. Our daughter loved our time there and we made sure to say goodbye to the sheep before we left.

The owners who live on-site were warm and welcoming, easy to talk to and happy to help. A few minor maintenance issues with the property but nothing that was an issue and was raised with the owners. The property itself is a fantastic space, incredibly generous, and the wider setting of the farm has lots of local walks. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay there again!

Lovely large space upstairs but a little cramped in the smaller bedroom. The shower over the bath gave us problems because the shower head needs replacing . I was disappointed to see there was no welcome pack and this is a small issue but it really helps especially when you haven't picked up some milk on the way after a long drive. This is the first holiday let i have been to where i didn't find one. No biggie but it does have that personal touch.
