Situated in Chillington, an utterly beautiful small village that sits between Salcombe and Dartmouth; the perfect base for exploring both towns and their surrounding areas of outstanding natural beauty - and just a short drive away from perfect beaches and the deep blue sea. Mole House is an enormous Georgian house with lots of space. The acre of land surrounding Mole is there to be explored freely. Help yourself to the apples growing in the orchard, or host a competitive croquet match with a drink in hand. If that’s all too hectic, simply find a spot to relax in the sunshine on a balmy day and breathe in the fresh sea air. Dogs will love running around the large lawns and exploring the grounds - come the cooler months, they will adore snoozing next to the crackling log fire after days exploring the local beaches. Find the fabulous snug corner of the garden with garden sofas and a fire pit for cosy evenings with music, wine and late night chats under the stars.

Entering the house into the utility area (where there are wellies for you to use on muddy walks) and onto the kitchen, you’ll be in the heart of the house where the culinary magic happens, and probably the odd late night story told over a few drinks. The kitchen has a table and benches which is perfect for kids’ suppers or informal breakfasts.

The kitchen leads out via french doors to a fantastic sun trap area for al fresco dining and to the sheltered walled garden. Enjoy lunches in the sunshine, or get those sausages sizzling on the charcoal barbecue in the evenings.

The more formal dining room next door to the kitchen used to be a simple 16th century dwelling. It seats up to 10 guests and is absolutely gorgeous with the huge fireplace with a wood burning stove harking back to days of old. This leads to the smaller of the sitting rooms and onto the main hallway of the house. A second stunning sitting room (with television) and wood-burner will be a top spot to crash out after a long countryside walk or paddle-boarding adventure along the nearby coastline. Find fabulous garden games in the utility cupboards for those sunny days, or a selection of board games for chilly evenings with a glass of wine. Little ones will adore this space and children and babes in arms are most welcome!

Upstairs there are 2 floors of accommodation and the four beautiful (and very large!) bedrooms. Mole's master bedroom has a super king-size bed and Jack-and-Jill bathroom which is shared with another king-size bedroom. The first floor is also home to another king-size bedroom with adjacent shower room, while up the gorgeous Chinese lattice Chippendale staircase to the second floor are two super king-size zip-and-link bedrooms which share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.

Relax, enjoy the fresh air, take in the incredible sunsets, and light cosy fires in the evening. Welcome to Mole House.

Little things you might like to note:

We really enjoyed our stay at Mole House, and your service was excellent. Lovely location, peaceful, and a lovely house to stay in with the whole family.

Mole House was all we could have wished. We had plenty of room to spread out with three families of all ages in occupation. The garden in particular was a source of fun for our four grandsons. Then almost daily visits to Mill Bay, easily reached from this side of the estuary. Millbrook Inn 5 minutes away. Couldn’t’ be better, and therefore 5 Stars.

There was so much space we were able to enjoy the place both together and alone as we pleased. It was equipped with good quality finishes and appliances. Check-in was very simple and we were welcomed into an immaculately clean house in close proximity to all the beauty the South Hams offers. Couldn't fault a fantastic stay in a fantastic home. Thank you.
