Beautiful cottage clean, spacious and attractively furnished with everything we could possibly need for a great stay. We slept well and enjoyed waking up to the sight of the stunning Dartmoor hills the property overlooked and visiting deer. Phil and Ann our hosts, were very friendly and on hand if needed but otherwise unobtrusive. South Devon has a wealth of gorgeous places to visit, our favourites were - Dartmouth where we had a great River Cruise on a steamer and explored the shops; South and North Sands and Salcombe- slightly scary drive down to coast, very narrow roads but you do get used to it!! Sea Tractor ride at South Sands and rock-pooling at North. We walked from North Sands to Salcombe town - about 15 minutes - (take change for car park at North Sands - very patchy signal); We took foot passenger ferry from Salcombe (after crabbing with the grandchildren who stayed nearby!) across to Portlemouth to the most beautiful Sandy beaches; Blackpool Sands (it is stones not sand, youâll need sea-shoes) but great place for water sports; We also ventured to Cornwallâs Eden Project at about 1hour 15mins as we wouldnât be that close again - great day out for all; Steam train ride from Totnes to Buckfastleigh and return - 120 year old train! Lovely knowledgeable volunteers - beautiful short trip to edge of Dartmoor. On return easy walk (albeit uphill) to Totnes Castle and some very nice shops. We walked our legs off, weather was kind and had a lovely very memorable week - thank you Phil and Ann and beautiful South Devon
