About this property

Just 150 yards from the lovely sandy beach in Challaborough is this contemporary detached house in a little gated collection of 12. Designed 'upside down' to create a light and spacious living area with a nautical theme, this is high quality and beautiful seaside accommodation with eco-friendly credentials. From the hall, stairs sweep up directly into the stunning open plan living space where you can chill out in the comfy seating area, cook in the well equipped and fresh kitchen area and gather together around the central table for fun family meals. You will find the four bedrooms on the ground floor, all peaceful and comfortable with stylish fabrics and clever bespoke blinds, together with the smart family bathroom tiled in cool limestone. From the dining area you can fold back big doors on a sunny day to reveal the private terrace for enjoying alfresco meals and head up steps to an enclosed roof garden where you can stretch out on loungers and listen to the sea. To enjoy the beach, you only need to wander out in wetsuits and flip-flops and you will find yourself on the big sandy Blue Flag beach where you can paddle, build sandcastles and surf or bodyboard. For surfing tuition or hire, the popular surf school at Bigbury-on-Sea is just over the little headland. If you don't feel like cooking, you can buy fish and chips in the summer from the café or a trip to nearby Ringmore is worthwhile for an excellent meal or a pint of real ale in its friendly, characterful pub. Walkers will be in seventh heaven on the South West Coast Path or strolling across the sand to Burgh Island with its views from the ruined huers hut on the peak. 5 Beachdown is an excellent house in prime position for a fun family holiday by the sea.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon aonb, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay. The Saxon church of All Hallows stands majestically overlooking this quintessentially English village with thatched cottages and a peaceful rural pace of life.

Four ground floor bedrooms: 2 x king size double (one with en suite shower room with shower, WC, basin), 2 x twin (one with additional bed for alternative sleeping, the other can convert to super king double).

Off road parking for three cars.

Two well-behaved dogs welcome.

Pub less than 1 mile from property.

    It’s ideal for our group. We love the space and use the deck for coffee and the roof to relax. Everything we need has been thought of. The setting is ideal for being able to access the outdoors. We have thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the beach. A great holiday for the whole family!

    Lounge, bedrooms very nice. Only issues which I think need sorting are : The outside table and chairs were rusty, rusk/coating was flaking off so could scratch you but the rust on some chairs if damp could mark your clothes. The fridge is on small side, which we did read about this. Rather than change the fridge, add a wine chiller - it’s a holiday so likely to have beer and wine. We don’t drink much but it did limit space for food. Maybe put the big storage box outside, and the roof cushions in roof space box. Had nice stay though , great location.

    Modern contemporary living with fabulous views - the Location is simply stunning! We have stayed in this area many times & know it well - First time staying at this property & we will be back ! The owner was so helpful & accommodating- What a gem of a find !
