Lee Shore in Salcombe is praised for its superb central location and picturesque estuary views. Guests appreciate the property's charm, proximity to local amenities, and the rustic seaside cottage ambiance. While some guests mention steep stairs and noise from nearby establishments, the overall sentiment is one of enjoyment and a desire to return, highlighting the property's cozy and well-equipped nature.
Cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with some guests finding the property well-maintained, while others note issues such as damp patches and food residue on utensils. The property seems to require more consistent attention to detail in cleaning.
The location is highly praised for its centrality, convenience to shops, pubs, and the waterfront. The picturesque views and easy access to local attractions are frequently mentioned as highlights.
Comfort is variable; guests love the cozy feel but criticize the quality of mattresses and sofas. The steep stairs may pose a challenge for some, and noise from the street and seagulls is occasionally mentioned.

The location is perfect only a few yards away from the waterside. We think it may help to modernise or upgrade the shower which we found difficult to avoid overspill out from the tray. Also a toilet roll and hand soap would help albeit we have left some at each sink. Overall we were delighted with our choice and absolutely love staying in Salcombe so hope to visit again soon.

Although I was surprised that the extremely steep stair case (with rope to pull oneself up) to access the upstairs living room and kitchen were not pointed out by Coast & Country along with photos provided of the staircase in the property Ad. Some holiday makers less fit than my husband and myself would have really struggled with the steep stairs and I would have thought Coast & Country have a duty of care to highlight this in their Ad. I have never come across such deep, steep stairs apart from in Church Belfry Towers. It is centrally located which is good but also rather noisy with the seagulls nesting nearby!

I am disappointed that our feedback from last year, and by reading some of the other reviews, the feedback of other guests, hasnât been taken on board. The reason we returned was the size of the property and itâs excellent location; we are a couple so donât need a large property, itâs a 30 second walk to the waterfront to launch our kayak and with the expectation our feedback had been listened to so our stay would be more comfortable than last year. I wholly agree with another review that the extremely steep, precarious and small staircase to access the living area is not mentioned, not an issue for us but could be for others with less mobility, plus there are numerous steps to ascend to even reach the property, THIS SHOULD BE CLEARLY MENTIONED AND PHOTOGRAPHED. We fed back last year that the bed was absolutely awful, very uncomfortable, the mattress is indented on both sides and the sheets on the bed were ill-fitting and well worn and need replacing - EXACTLY THE SAME MATTRESS AND SHEETS THIS YEAR. We even flipped it over to see if this would help but alas no. My partner in despair on night three from lack of sleep, went to spend the night in the single room, alas, he reported that the single bed was much the same if not worse and could feel the springs in his back. The futon sofa is still in place, despite feeding back that it also needs replacing with something much more comfortable as you cannot relax on it and seems pointless. The kitchen equipment could all do with checking through and replacing as needed, as a lot of the items are well used at best and have seen better days, the oven trays and cooking paraphernalia need a good scrub if not binned and replaced with new. We bring our FireStick to plug into the TV so we have access to Netflix etc in the evening as the channel content is very poor, which I would recommend others to do. Overall, Lee Shore is OK if you donât have high expectations and donât sleep much. It is very tired and needs a complete overhaul of contents, a thorough deep clean, repair of cracks and fresh paint throughout. It is a shame as the location and stunning views from the living area make this property a real winner. We have no issues with Coast and Country as a service, however, due to the above, we shall not be returning to Lee Shore and would advise others to read all the reviews carefully to make an informed choice when considering booking this property. The expectation now is that the property owners take notice of the reviews and rectify the issues before the 2024 season begins, if so, we would gladly return.
