Dory Cottage in Salcombe is praised for its excellent location and the bonus of private parking. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable main bedroom, and additional features like the outdoor shower and attic den. The property's charm and convenience for exploring the area are highlighted, though some guests mention areas for improvement.
Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage spotless, while others report it not being cleaned to their expectations. Issues such as dust, dirt, and a general need for a more thorough cleaning are mentioned.
The cottage's location is consistently praised for being central, convenient, and ideal for exploring Salcombe and the surrounding areas. The provision of private parking is frequently highlighted as a significant advantage.
The main bedroom is often described as very comfortable, and the living spaces are well-received. However, some guests find the additional bedrooms less comfortable, and there are mixed opinions about the firmness of mattresses and the comfort of the sofas.
Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and garage. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as problematic blinds, a leaky Velux window, and the need for updates to some furnishings and appliances.
While some guests mention the lack of a welcome pack and the need for updates to cooking utensils, there are no specific references to gifts or thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

We had poor expectations but were pleased with what we found. The only observation we had was the outside shower top bracket was not in place. Did not matter to us as we had no need for it but probably worth getting fixed. Thanks for the stay.

The whole house needs a good clean especially the oven and oven dishes. Dishwasher was full on arrival. No dishwasher tablets as advertised. The freezer section of the fridge was so close to the wall we could only open a little way. Battery missing from remote. Window in back bedroom not fitted securely and doesn't seal shut so every noise heard(especially the bells). Chairs very uncomfortable even with every cushion available. Doors are difficult to open/close. Front door looks like someone tried to force handle which is loose and is difficult to lock. Some pillows stained and no protectors on(noticed when leaving). Perhaps we have been spoilt as all the previous holiday homes we have stayed in provided dishwasher/washing tablets, loo rolls etc. Sorry to be so negative but there are positives. The house is in a great position in Salcombe. Close to shops and walks. We would stay in Salcombe again but not in this particular property.

We new the access problems with the steps by staying in Salcombe over thirty years. The cottage worked and the garage was great as we had a car and a small trailer. The weather was good so we made good use of the bbq though getting it from the garage to the top and back was a struggle. All in all we were happy and may return. Other properties are available and are slightly better value.
