Guests say

Hillcroft Cottage in Teignmouth, Devon, is praised for its cleanliness, stylish decor, and prime location close to the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings and well-equipped kitchen, though some mention steep stairs and parking challenges. The cottage's thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, are noted and appreciated.

The majority of guests report the cottage as spotlessly clean, with particular praise for the clean bedding and towels. However, one review mentioned a kitchen cleanliness issue, slightly impacting the overall high score.

The location is highly regarded due to its proximity to the beach, shops, and local attractions. However, parking difficulties and narrow streets are mentioned, which slightly detract from the perfect score.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, but some have reported issues with steep stairs and the lack of an outside sitting area, which affects the comfort level for some visitors.

The cottage is well-furnished and the kitchen is well-stocked, according to reviews. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as fixing blinds and adding kitchen utensils, which suggests room for improvement.

While guests have mentioned welcome gifts, which indicate thoughtfulness, there is not enough consistent information about other thoughtful touches throughout the stay to accurately score this category.

Put rubbish out on Fridays for private company to collect - not picked up. No instructions re: bed linens/ towels when checking out. Kitchen - dirty. Fridge was dirty inside, kettle and toaster, actually everything in kitchen had a film of grime covering it. Old food ( peas) on counter when we arrived. Enough to put me off cooking there, and eating off plates/cutlery until had been put through the dishwasher. I did contact Sykes about this and have photos to back up my claims. One tea towel for 2 week stay! No bin liners. There are far better, and more organised, places to stay in Shaldon. Bathroom and bedrooms were clean, including bedding and towels. Location is great. Stairs barely wide enough to get a suitcase up. Skimpy on supplies left eg. 2 toilet rolls. Overall I got the impression the owners are cheap on the little things, and they need to change their cleaning company asap. Personally I would not return. Lots of other choices out there.
