About this property

Rose Cottage is a rustic, Grade 2 listed thatch built in 17th century in the idyllic village of Jacobstowe, Devon. This lovely thatched cottage offers pet-friendly accommodation, meaning your four-legged loved one can join in on all the holiday adventures! Behind the doors at Rose Cottage, you will be greeted by an inviting sitting room, complete with a TV and an open fire, perfect for those chilly Devon evenings. Adjacent to this, you will find a snug, ideal for curling up with a good book in front of the glowing embers of the woodburner. The heart of the home is the kitchen/diner, fully equipped for all your culinary needs, where you can gather around the table to enjoy home-cooked meals. When it's time to retire for the evening, choose from two beautifully presented bedrooms. The king-size room boasts a freestanding bath, offering the perfect spot for a relaxing soak with that added hint of privacy. The twin room is equally as welcoming, providing a restful space for sleep. Guests can enjoy a steamy soak under the shower morning or evening in the slick shower room. Head to the rear garden, where you'll find a lawned area with furniture for a spot of al fresco dining. The summer house provides an additional space for relaxation, while the pond adds a calming touch with the serene sound of flowing water only adding to the tranquil atmosphere. For the ultimate indulgence, take a dip in the hot tub and let your worries melt away. Stepping out from Rose Cottage’s garden haven, you'll discover the charm and beauty of Devon at your doorstep. Start off the exploration with a tranquil stroll through the Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve, an idyllic paradise teeming with wildlife and natural beauty. In the other direction, channel your inner adventurer and explore the ruins of the medieval Okehampton Castle, the verdant expanse of the Okehampton Showground, or immerse yourself in the rustic wonder of the War Horse Valley Country Farm Park. Enrich your mind at the grandeur of the Exeter Cathedral, and relish in the tranquillity of Belmont Park Exeter and Northernhay Gardens Rest assured. Beyond, is the lovely Dartmoor countryside and open moorland, with lots of walking routes to choose from and fishing in the River Dart. There is no better place to create the ultimate English countryside memories than at Rose Cottage.

Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. To the north of Okehampton are some beautiful rolling Devon hills where small farming villages nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of gently flowing rivers. The fabulous Roadford Reservoir offers a multitude of watersport activities and fishing opportunities. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory: The Dartmoor Line now operates a service between Okehampton and Exeter every hour, 7 days a week. The town also has access to fabulous walks and Simmons Park where you’ll find a children’s adventure playground. This area of Devon has plenty of farm shops and country inns serving good food where visitors can spend time relaxing and unwinding amongst unspoilt countryside.
