Guests say

Guests consistently praise The Old Mill Holiday Cottage for its charm, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches like fresh bread and a well-equipped kitchen. The garden and wildlife are highlights, and the property is dog-friendly with an enclosed space. Some guests mention road noise, but overall, the cottage offers a comfortable and welcoming stay.

Reviewers frequently mention the cottage's spotless condition and the meticulous attention to cleanliness, suggesting a very high standard maintained by the hosts.

The location is generally appreciated for its scenic walks and proximity to local attractions, though a few guests note the presence of road noise. The balance of positive location attributes against the few concerns about noise results in a strong but not perfect score.

Comfort is highly rated, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. There is a single mention of an uncomfortable sofa bed, but overall, the sentiment is very positive.

Facilities are well-regarded, with mentions of a fully equipped kitchen, smart TV, and log fires. Maintenance appears to be excellent, though one suggestion for improvement in the lounge setup indicates a slight deduction from a perfect score.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently highlighted, with special mentions of welcome packs and provisions for dogs. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such personal touches, though common, may vary and are not guaranteed.

It's a great base to either relax in or to explore Dartmoor and North Devon. Linda and Kevin are very friendly and helpful and have obviously put a lot of time and effort into their properties. Having access to the river from the orchard was a real treat. The only downside for us was the speed of the traffic past the house. We very much enjoyed our time there.

Lynda and Kevin were the perfect hosts, there if you needed them but not in your face. The cottage is dog friendly and as such there are many little touches such as a bed, a lead and feeding bowls. Outside the wild birds are catered for, gold finches are prolific. There's a lovely public walk down by the river Okement where you can see otters, I didn't see any, maybe next time. I can honestly say that Lynda and Kevin have thought their project though and have catered for everything to make a visitor welcome and comfortable.

We especially loved the thoughtful touches such as the freshly baked bread, butter, eggs and milk left in the kitchen and bottles of water by the beds. I loved spending time watching all the wildlife in the garden including some amazingly colourful birds, a red squirrel and we even saw a deer in the field around the corner when walking dogs one morning. My youngest dog Cooper very much appreciated the dog bed that was there for our use and the enclosed garden was perfect for letting the dogs out. I would highly recommend this place to stay and hope to be back soon.
