 ... in the heart of Tavistock, on a quiet road moments from the centre, are five splendid apartments recently converted from a chapel. We let two. The conversion has been done to a very high finish and the apartments are wonderfully light, hugely spacious and very comfortable. A trouble-free, relaxing and thoroughly modern place to stay in this interesting and thriving town. 

The Chapel Apartment: stairs from communal hall to small lobby (loo, washbasin) to open-plan living/dining/kitchen with magnificent Italian spiral staircase (open tread) up to curved glass balcony (and bedrooms beyond) and original chapel windows. Smartly fitted kitchen area with shiny granite worktops (dishwasher, freezer, gas hob, larder fridge), and small utility cupboard (microwave, washer-drier); dining and comfortable seating areas (TV/DVD) below double-height ceilings add to the sense of space. Upstairs from the living area, three bedrooms, all with original chapel stained glass windows and soft, sumptuous modern furnishings – a large double (5’ sleigh bed) with en suite shower-room, another double (5’ bed), and a single (limited clothes-hanging space). Smart family bathroom (suite plus bath-shower). Outside, and a bit of a trek up steep steps, is a three-tiered, enclosed decked area (seating) with great views over Tavistock towards Dartmoor. Especially suitable for couples.
