Bowbeer Barn is highly praised for its welcoming atmosphere, picturesque farm setting, and friendly owners. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, comfortable accommodation, and thoughtful touches like homemade scones. The presence of animals and proximity to Dartmoor and local attractions add to the charm. Some minor issues with maintenance and pet security are noted, but overall experiences are overwhelmingly positive.
Reviews consistently mention the cottage being 'spotlessly clean' and 'very well presented', indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.
The property's location is celebrated for its beauty and proximity to Dartmoor and local attractions, despite some guests finding the narrow lanes challenging.
The majority of guests find the barn very comfortable, with 'comfy beds' and a 'homely' feel, although there are isolated comments about hard mattresses and the suitability of the garden for small dogs.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the barn being 'well equipped'. However, some guests mention minor issues such as mismatched cutlery and a bent front door key, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.
Guests frequently express gratitude for thoughtful gestures like fresh scones, cream teas, and farm eggs. While these gifts are warmly received, it's important to note that such offerings, while common, are not guaranteed.
This detached cottage converted from a Victorian barn is situated on a large beef and sheep farm just over a mile from the Devon village of Drewsteignton which offers it own local pub which is community owned and run. With an upside down layout, it is an exceptionally peaceful place to relax and enjoy the peace and unpolluted night skies. Steps from the garden take you into the open plan oak-floored living space, light and airy with seating area with wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen. Stairs lead you down to the two en suite bedrooms and a useful space for leaving coats and boots after lovely countryside walks. The enclosed garden is a great spot to chill out and gaze at long rural views to Dartmoor whilst you cook on the barbecue and eat alfresco. You will have worked up an appetite by walking the fields or perhaps going a little further afield to the open spaces of Dartmoor. You are welcome to bring your rods to fish for carp in the small farm pond. Surrounded by spectacular scenery and with the little town of Chagford and Exeter city within easy reach, Bowbeer Barn is a great central spot for exploring Devon.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the fishing in the pool was great. The cottage was clean and comfortable although due to lack of space there was no cupboards to store our food supplies for the week and the internet was intermittent. There was a wide range of animals in the adjoining field Aylesbury and other ducks, geese, goats, bulls and cattle and the cottage has a good surrounding area which we made full use of. Would readily return if stopping in the area.

The Barn is very comfortable and in a good location for exploring the area. It was lovely to be able to look out the windows and see sheep, goats, ducks, cows and the lovely farm dogs. The cream tea waiting for us on arrival was a very nice touch too.

Very comfortable Cottage with very good facilities and provisions. The upside down layout meant lovely view over the fields. It can be a bit challenging for people with mobility issues, but the gate at the top and solid rails provided good safety. Woodburning stove and well stocked kitchen were great. The homemade scones with cream and jam on arrival were a lovely welcome. Name customer: David
