Guests say

Sealark Lodge in Bridport offers stunning sea views and is praised for its location with easy access to the beach and local amenities. While some guests have had issues with cleanliness and maintenance, others have found the lodge comfortable and well-equipped for their stay.

Reviews indicate some guests arrived to find the lodge in a less than satisfactory state of cleanliness, with issues such as unmade beds and stained duvets. However, corrective action was taken when problems were reported.

The lodge boasts a wonderful location with sea views and proximity to dog-friendly beaches and coastal walks. The road access is noted to be challenging, but the views and local amenities are highly appreciated.

Guests have mixed feelings about comfort; some find the lodge cosy and well-furnished, while others report uncomfortable mattresses and issues with heating. The double bed is noted to be more comfortable than the twin beds.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and provided board games. However, there are negative remarks about the maintenance of the decking area, difficulty with the key safe, and some windows not opening.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Sealark is a superb, two-bedroom lodge situated in the village of Eype in Dorset. Nestled on the stunning Jurassic Coast in Dorset and located just a stone’s throw from the beach and cliffs, Sealark is ideal for couples and small families, keen walkers or those wanting to escape from the stresses of everyday life, with amazing sea views and within walking distance from the nearest amenities.

The contemporary, open-plan living space has been carefully considered to highlight the extensive views that stretch along the coast to Portland on a clear day. What better way to start the day than relaxing with your morning coffee in the cosy seating area, taking in the views of the sea, while you plan your day ahead? The fully-equipped kitchen offers everything needed for preparing tasty meals. Large patio doors open from the living area onto a large wooden veranda at the front of the lodge where the table and chairs invite you to dine alfresco and enjoy this most enviable of locations.

The two bedrooms are located at the rear of the lodge, with a double room with sea views, and a twin room. Both have fitted storage and share use of the family shower room.

Quietly located on a small select park in a wonderful cliff top setting, the property is only a brief stroll from the scenic Eype's Mouth beach, a fantastic location for beach goers and water sports enthusiasts alike. The village of Eype, one of West Dorset’s prettiest villages, is brimming with thatched stone cottages dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. When you don’t feel like cooking, guests can enjoy a meal at The New Inn located in the village or a takeaway from Eype Eats, situated adjacent to Eype Mouth Chalet Park.

With direct access from the site to the South West Coast Path, avid walkers will delight in this scenic stretch of the coastline including Golden Cap, the highest point of the south coast. The traditional market town of Bridport rests nearby, and offers visitors a great choice of fascinating attractions, with many well-known shops, antiques, and a bustling Saturday market. Bucky Doo Square is the town's heartbeat with regular music and performances being enjoyed along with stalls and producers visiting from around the local area to sell unique gifts and delicious food and drink. With West Bay's beach and historic harbour, all less than a mile away, the property is wonderfully located for a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Other popular day trips include Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb Harbour and family friendly beach or Abbotsbury with its acclaimed Swannery and subtropical gardens.

Sealark offers an ideal getaway any time of the year.

Eype sits on one of the most dramatic sections of the Jurassic Coastline, and famously features one of ITV’s series Broadchurch’s most iconic locations. We’ll leave you guessing as to which one until you visit. The beach at Eype is a steeply shelving pebble beach that is dog friendly all year round and just 3 miles from Bridport and 4 from West Bay, where many other Broadchurch locations can be viewed, as well enjoying local fish and chips on the harbour side and ice creams on the seafront. You'll also find a spar supermarket selling essentials, as well as a selection of pubs and restaurants in the village, including The New Inn, the Admiral's Restaurant and Bar, and Martin's Bar and Restaurant. Bridport offers all the high street amenities you will need along with a much-coveted antiques and collectables market. Golden Cap, the highest point in Dorset, sits on the South West Coast path and is just 4 miles from Eype, although it’s the highest point there are moderate routes to walk to the top, where spectacular far reaching views along the coast will be your reward.

Owners are decent helpful people. Previous comments regarding problems with the winding, narrow approach road are unfounded.

The road to and from the property was a nightmare so much traffic not enough room to pass on one occsssion had to reverse back a half a mile. The was no parasols for the table decking was in bad state and not suitable for having a dog stay. Would not go again and would not recommend it.
