Nutwood Cottage in Charmouth is praised for its fabulous location, picturesque garden, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, spaciousness, and the thoughtful welcome pack. While some mention minor issues with parking and suggest upgrades to pillows and linen, the overall experience is very positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The property is consistently described as clean and tidy, with only one mention of a damp smell. The overwhelming majority of reviews highlight the immaculate condition of the cottage.
The location is highly regarded for its proximity to beaches and local attractions. Some guests found the parking challenging and the road noise noticeable, but the views and accessibility to the town are well-received.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy. However, there are comments about lumpy pillows and small beds in double rooms, suggesting room for improvement in sleeping arrangements.
The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests appreciate the garden and patio. Points are deducted for mentions of the need for upgrades to certain items and the condition of the parking area.
The welcome pack is frequently mentioned and appreciated, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this is noted with appreciation for the gesture rather than expectation.

The welcome pack was best we have seen for a while. The car park space nearby was useful. Good amount of crockery and glasses. Comfortable beds. Views from the garden are lovely. Ideally situated in the village for walks to the beach and village amenities, itâs the walk back up the hill that is brilliant for a cardio workout.

Very clean, plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. Beds were very comfortable. Parking space a bonus although easier to park on road opposite house for loading/unloading. Great WiFi signal - also a bonus with a teenager. En-suite bedroom could benefit from a blackout blind but otherwise all perfect. Lovely welcome pack which was most appreciated. Very relaxing week.

Spacious downstairs living/dining area. Well equipped kitchen, dishwasher a bonus! Garden was stunning with excellent seating area. Plenty of room for the 5 of us and great space for our 3 year old to move around. Wonderful views from the two back bedrooms over the hills and bonus that the very top room has a small view of the sea! Downstairs bathroom was good. Shops, fish and chip shop and beach all within close reach. Having a dedicated parking spot was very handy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Having a dvd player with dvds available was helpful for keeping our little one busy when we were tired from the day. Lots of information and helpful booklets/leaflets everywhere. Plenty of wardrobe space. Negatives: The beds in the two double bedrooms were really very small and not comfortable. The pillows were also quite lumpy, which I think is probably from over washing. The curtains were incredibly thin so the rooms were very bright very early. The two couples in the double rooms didnât sleep well for the entire holiday. Things for people to consider: The house is on the main road into Charmouth and it is very busy. At night time, when buses and lorries go past these can be heard clearly and also make the upmost bedroom seem to âshakeâ. The house probably isnât suitable for elderly people due to steps down into the kitchen, bathroom and grass/garden, as well as the steep and narrow steps up to the top bedroom. The ceiling height in the top bedroom is quite low so you have to duck in places. The walk down to the beach is easy but Charmouth is on a hill so the walk back, especially if you have little ones, is really arduous.
