Guests say

Guests consistently praise the cottage for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped nature, highlighting the thoughtful touches like welcome packs. The secure garden is a hit with dog owners, and the tranquil location is ideal for relaxation and walks. Some minor issues with shower facilities are noted, but overall experiences are overwhelmingly positive, with many planning return visits.

Reviewers frequently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as immaculate and spotless, which indicates a high standard of hygiene and care.

The property's location is praised for its tranquillity and proximity to walks and the Jurassic coast, making it an ideal base for exploring Dorset. However, one review suggests the remoteness could benefit from an EV charge point.

Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the property warm and welcoming. The presence of en-suite wet rooms and accessibility features also contribute to the comfort level.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially for being dog-friendly and well-equipped for self-catering. However, one review mentions an issue with a shower, which slightly impacts the score.

Many reviews express gratitude for the welcome packs and additional provisions, reflecting the owners' thoughtfulness. While these gifts are appreciated, it's important to note that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

This thoughtfully designed, semi-detached barn conversion rests in the tranquil hamlet of Notton, close to the village of Maiden Newton. Surrounded by the delightful Dorset countryside, Willow is a wonderful escape for families and those with limited mobility due to the ground-floor aspect and range of disabled friendly facilities. Step into the open-plan living space and make yourself comfortable on the sofa, flicking on the electric fire as you discuss the holiday agenda. Allow the chef of the group to get busy in the kitchen, utilising the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer as they prepare something delicious, with the bonus of a dishwasher and washing machine for convenience. French doors lead out to the patio garden, an idyllic space for enjoying an evening drink or alfresco breakfast, complimented by the rural setting so you can enjoy some peace and quiet. As the night rolls in, retire to the bedrooms to catch some shut-eye, including a king-size and twin, both with en-suite wet rooms for easy access. There is a cycle path and a foot path straight from the barns & just over a mile and half away is the village of Maiden Newton, boasting a good selection of shops including a well-stocked local vil-lage store, a pub as well as a convenient train station so it’s easy to tour the surrounding area without a car. The stunning rolling landscape affords superb walking and cycling both inland and along the coast; enjoy the scenery from Hardy’s monument and wander around the pretty village of Abbotsbury before heading to the subtropical gardens or Abbotsbury Swannery. Weymouth is an excellent day out with a fantastic beach, vibrant huts, the family friendly SEA LIFE Centre and a whole host of pubs, restaurants, and bars to browse. Those fans of the TV series Broadchurch should visit Bridport and West Bay, which were both used as filming locations for the popular BBC drama, and while you here, venture along the scenic coastal path and visit the Hive Beach Café, a wonderful spot for an afternoon bite. With plenty to look forward to, a holiday at the Willow is sure to make wonderful memories. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1096950, together they sleep up to eight guests.

Located in the county of Dorset, Maiden Newton is a town-sized village that is surrounded by an Area of Natural Beauty. Shops, a pub, and a restaurant may all be found in the village. The Church of St. Mary in Maiden Newton is another noteworthy structure in the community. As far as anyone can tell, this is England's oldest surviving wooden church door. The South Dorset Heritage Coast, which includes the villages of Lyme Regis, with its famous Cobb, Charmouth, with its sandy beach, or West Bay, where you can fish from the pier, is the place to go for great beaches, fossils, and cliff climbs.

Absolutely fantastic as always. The property itself is clean, very well kept and well equipped with everything you need. Comfy beds, fluffy towels, good showers! Dog friendly. Set in a quiet location, with walks from the door. The local pub is about a 30 min walk along a footpath; it’s an easy, flat route but take a torch for the night. The pub is definitely worth a visit though. Also a lovely little village store and the petrol station has a couple of COOK freezers if you want to eat in but don’t want to cook!

Having stayed at a few Sykes cottages this is the first that is exactly what the pictures show and exactly as described or better. Worthy of 10 stars! We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend.

Dogs well catered for, and throws to put on the furniture so your dogs can sit with you. Property is well suited for those with a disability with a walk-in shower and grab rails placed around the toilet and shower area. About 6 miles from Dorchester and lovely dog friendly pubs nearby. We highly recommend Willow as a great base for visiting Dorset.
