Guests say

Kimberlin cottage in Portland, Dorset, is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and proximity to Chesil Beach. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, secure parking, and thoughtful welcome baskets. While some find the living space cosy and parking tight, the stunning sea views and local amenities, including a nearby pub, contribute to a delightful stay.

Guests consistently note the property as spotlessly clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable and welcoming stay.

The property's location is celebrated for its close proximity to Chesil Beach and local attractions, though some guests noted limited sea views and the need to travel for shops.

The property is commended for comfortable beds and furnishings. However, some guests mentioned the living areas felt cramped and the dining space was cosy for larger groups.

The property is well-equipped with kitchen amenities and a welcome basket. Some guests experienced minor issues with TV functionality and suggested improvements like summer duvets and additional consumables for longer stays.

Many guests were delighted by the welcome baskets, which added a personal touch to their stay. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are a courtesy and not guaranteed.

About this property

This contemporary, mid-terrace townhouse is excellently positioned literally a stone’s throw from Chesil Beach, along with the whole of Portland and Weymouth within walking distance. Kimberlin provides a sumptuous sanctuary for a family or a group of friends seeking a relaxing getaway near to the superb Jurassic Coast. Set over three floors, you enter on the ground floor to find the first bedroom, housing a king-size bed and ample storage, along with a lavish bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for the day. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in the bathroom so you won’t have to pack your whole wardrobe! Move up to the first floor and discover the living areas; the sitting room is a lovely spot to unwind each evening, getting comfortable on the sofa and switching on the tele, or venture into the kitchen and utilise a range of appliances, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The third-floor plays host to the master bedroom, hosting a sumptuous double bed with views of Chesil Beach, while there is also a shower room and a twin, ideal for children. When you’re ready to explore, Portland Bill and the Isle of Portland is a truly unique location with much to offer, including beautiful coastal walks, hidden beaches, pirate history, modern day Olympic legacies and much more. Pack up your bucket and spades and venture over to Chesil Beach, an 18-mile long shingle barrier beach stretching from West Bay to Portland. View the Jurassic Coast from the Olympic rings at Portland Heights, where you can see as far along the coast as Lyme Regis and Exmouth on a clear day, or join the scenic South West Coast Path and marvel at the breath-taking coastal vistas. However you choose to spend your time in this beautiful county, Kimberlin is a magnificent base from which to explore all that Dorset and it’s remarkable coastline has to offer

Portland Bill is a small promontory at the tip of the mountainous Isle of Portland peninsula, connected to the mainland by Chesil Beach, an 18-mile-long shingle spit that stretches towards West Bay. Portland Bill is located on Dorset's magnificent Jurassic Coast, which is now a World Heritage Site, and is home to three lighthouses, the most modern of which was completed in 1906 and is 35 metres tall with white and red stripes. The Portland Bird Observatory, as well as a tavern and a restaurant/café, may be found on Portland Bill. Previously a quarrying region, the spectacular coastline scenery and pathways provide excellent walking opportunities, and the surrounding countryside is well recognised as a birdwatcher's paradise! Fortuneswell and Easton both have a good selection of stores, bars, and restaurants. With superb climbing options and a variety of watersports activities nearby, as well as the magnificent sandy beaches and picturesque harbour of Weymouth just 9 miles away, this fantastic holiday destination should not be missed!

The house is located next to Chesil beach and is a great spot for a walk by the sea, sit on the pebble beach or for drinks and or food at the local Cove Inn pub 200 metres away with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a cafe nearby ( Quiddles) if you fancy breakfast with a sea view subject to weather. The house is quite new, very clean and well maintained. Recommended.

Very well equipped. A home from home. Clean, fresh and modern. Welcomed with a hamper of goodies. The location was great, just off Chesil beach. It was prefect for dog walks and evenings watching the sun set. Restaurants, pubs, take aways, cafe & shops all in walking distance. One allocated parking space which takes some maneuvering to get out of if the other spaces are occupied, but we managed. The second car we parked in the spaces opposite the gated entrance. We always found a space, sometimes we just had to be a little patient. We definitely will be back.

Kimberlin is only about 3 years old but has its own charm. The cottage is well equipped and the welcome pack was outstanding. The house is very comfortable and well placed for the beach, some excellent eating places and Weymouth a short drive away. The patio is a suntrap and great for sitting or eating outdoors. Only thing I would improve is the number of mugs as only 8 and if, like us, you like a few hot drinks during the day the mugs are quickly all used. Parking is tight, especially if you have a long car as we do. Highly recommended.
