About this property

Settled in the heart of the picture-perfect village of Abbotsbury, a stone's throw from the renowned Jurassic Coast, rests this remarkable Grade II listed holiday home, 26 Rodden Row. Formerly a tearoom, this spectacular stone-built property oozes traditional character, with exposed stone-work, wooden beams and a thatched roof, offering a truly remarkable base for a group celebration to Dorset. Discard any coats and shoes in the handy stone-floored entrance hallway before making your way through to the sitting room to unwind with a moment of peace in front of the television, with a feature stone inglenook fireplace adding the perfect ambiance for those evenings in with family and friends. The kitchen is equipped with a range of amenities to entice any budding chef to prepare an array of delectable dishes, whilst the handy dishwasher helps keep the space neat and tidy. Across the way rests the spacious dining room, where the original charm of the former tearoom can be seen throughout the quaint decor; gather together with your loved ones at the dining table to recount the days adventures over a delicious meal or make the most of your picturesque setting by making mealtimes an alfresco affair in the well-presented garden. The tearoom is also ideal for family games or to escape for peaceful reading time. When the skies grow darker, climb the stairs to the first floor where you'll find four bedrooms, comprising two king-size rooms, one with an additional single bed, one twin and each benefiting from access to their own en-suite, whilst a single room offers an intimate escape from the excitement. A fabulous family bedroom can be found with an en-suite bathroom tucked under the exposed beams of the second floor, ideal for keeping an eye on the little ones. Enjoying a central location, you'll find a host of local amenities right on your doorstep, including The Old School House, where you can fuel the days excursions with a traditional spot of Dorset afternoon tea, along with The Bride Valley Farm Shop, stocked with fresh, locally sourced produce. Whilst you're in the area, be sure to visit the famed Abbotsbury Swannery, where over 600 Mute Swans nest on the site of an 11th century monastery or enjoy a stroll through the blooming magnolia and camellia at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens. Pack up your bucket and spade and spend a lazy afternoon lounging on the glorious sands of Chesil Beach, or lace up your walking boots and explore the delights of the Jurassic Coast along the South West Coast Path. Television buffs will be delighted with a visit to West Bay, where the rugged sandstone cliffs form the backdrop behind popular whodunnit drama series Broadchurch, whilst the neighbouring market town of Bridport is well worth a visit. Jump in the car and head to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth, where you can discover fascinating marine creatures at the SEA LIFE Centre, tour a unique collection of sand-built sculptures at Sandworld, or lose yourself amongst the labyrinth of tunnels at Nothe Fort. Whisk your loved ones away on an unforgettable retreat with a stay at 26 Rodden Row.

On the Jurassic Coast of Dorset rests the village of Abbotsbury, home to an array of local amenities, including a village shop, a post office and a character pub. Famed for it's swannery, Abbotsbury hosts a fabulous colony of nesting Mute Swans, whilst the subtropical gardens offer a lovely spot for a leisurely stroll. I had to get the man out both on Friday and Saturday first for the heating which should have been on before we arrived, and then for the water which was just lukewarm. Putting a air fresher in the cupboard just left a smell on the dishes, overall we all enjoyed our stay.

The tearooms are quirky and full of character. The accommodation itself suited our extended family perfectly. The only issues I would feedback is that the kitchen felt like it wasn't completely clean (scum in the kettle and food on cutlery) and a 4pm check-in seemed late.

The only issues I would feedback is that the kitchen felt like it wasn't completely clean (scum in the kettle and food on cutlery) and a 4pm check-in seemed late. Unfortunately a major storm flooded the ground floor of the tearooms on the last morning which meant we were unable to access the kitchen for breakfast.
