The secure garden is a hit with pet owners, and the surrounding countryside offers delightful views and tranquillity.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests report the cottage as spotless and well-maintained, with only a single mention of a cleanliness issue which seems to be an isolated incident.

The location is consistently described as peaceful and ideal for exploring Gloucestershire, with easy access to local attractions. However, some guests noted the inconvenience of local pub closures and poor road conditions.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mention of the underfloor heating and secure garden. A few guests noted issues with the bed and a lack of cooling during hot weather.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the property being well-equipped. Criticisms include the lack of a freezer compartment and issues with a towel rail and septic tank, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.

Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures of the owners, such as welcome packs and checking in on guests' comfort. It should be noted that while these gifts are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A delightful ground floor detached cottage commanding lovely views, ideally located on the outskirts of the Roman village of Ashleworth in Gloucestershire, close to the River Severn. The front porch of the cottage provides space for walking gear, golf clubs and fishing tackle and from here make your way into the warm and welcoming cottage. The open plan living accommodation has a very well-equipped kitchen with everything needed to cook a romantic meal, dining area and reclining sofa, ideal for relaxing in front of the TV. The bright and cheery bedroom has the added benefit of a TV and DVD, while the bathroom has both bath and shower so guests can enjoy a well-earned soak after a day walking. Outside is a front sunny patio with furniture where lovely views can be enjoyed as well as alfresco dining on a summer's evening. A short walk takes you to the village shop, housed within a handy Post Office, perfect for picking up last minute ingredients to prepare a heartwarming meal from the comfort of your holiday home. Just a short drive away is the ancient waterfront city of Gloucester, the pretty spa town of Cheltenham, many unspoilt Cotswold villages and towns and the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, which offers outdoor activities to suit all abilities. A wonderful cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of year.

Located in picturesque Gloucestershire countryside, the medieval village of Ashleworth is only six miles from Gloucester's waterfront. There are several ancient buildings in Ashleworth dating back to Roman times, including a National Trust-owned 15th century tithe barn, a 12th-century church, and The Preaching Cross on the village green. It also has a Post Office and well-stocked grocery store for all your self-catering needs. The Severn Way and the Three Choirs Way pass near by, making for many excellent walks right from the settlement.

A bird lovers paradise! The lodge was a comfortable and well equipped place to relax with everything we needed, and the owners (and their gorgeous dog) were very friendly and keen for us to enjoy our holiday. It’s in a good position for touring to the Forest of Dean as well as interesting old towns like Ledbury, Gloucester and Tewksbury. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Lawn Lodge.

Cooper are wonderful, they really make you feel at home. Lawn Lodge isn't large but it was big enough for us, beautifully clean and has been well maintained. As we live in the country we appreciate the quiet, the birds and deer in the paddock make it so refreshingly beautiful. Many thanks for our stay, Mel & Marilyn Dyson.
