Wookey is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, nestled between the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels, just two miles from the cathedral city of Wells. The stunning landscape is home to a diverse range of wildlife with excellent walks and cycle routes. Within easy reach are many beautiful sandy beaches, stretching along the North Somerset coast and numerous visitor attractions. All on one level, The Milking Parlour is an attractive, detached property; thoughtfully converted using local materials. Lots of lovely original features remain, including wooden beams, colourful 200 year old Glastonbury roof tiles and stone drinking troughs; now transformed into interesting plant holders. Inside, the lofty lounge with high raftered ceiling is flooded with light from the full height windows which run the length of the room. The kitchen/diner opens onto the sunny patio at the side of the property, overlooking the owners' orchard; the backdrop to which is the stunning Mendip Hills. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one a wet room complete the living accommodation. Converted from a further barn, the neighbouring games room with table tennis and table football is great fun for all ages.
Wells is named after its springs in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace. Adjacent is the 12th century cathedral. Close by, Vicars Close's market square offers shops, boutiques and restaurants, and a bi-weekly market. The surrounding aonb provides scenic footpaths and landscapes, a centre for caving and rock climbing, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves, are also great days out. With the Somerset Levels, as well as Glastonbury an easy drive away, this city makes an ideal touring base. With much to see and do, there is something for everyone here.

The bungalow is extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped. The games room and garden helped to keep the grandchildren amused. We will certainly book here again when visiting the area.

Well equipped and clean, just like home from home. We saw three deer whilst sitting in the garden on our first night. Much appreciated welcome hamper and lovely owners. We enjoyed playing table tennis and table football.

The hosts, David & Pauline were very helpful and friendly and left the most generous welcome pack. Thank you. Lots of wildlife around, deer, rabbits, stoat, bats and an owl in the garden. A kingfisher on the local stream, but we didn't see it. There are several RSPB sites around and we saw bittern, kingfisher, hobby, Gt White Egrets and Marsh Harrier. Wells was lovely to visit too.
