Centrally located to nearby Cheddar Gorge as well as to the festival town of Glastonbury and the cathedral city of Wells, the property couldn't be better placed; with the cosmopolitan city of Bristol and historical city of Bath within easy reach as well. Just ten minutes drive away is the seaside town of Weston Super Mare, where its sprawling stretch of sand and calm waters offer visitors ample opportunity for bucket and spade days or long beach walks.

Once a humble farm building, The Cowshed’s exterior which features original stone walls, now boasts contemporary roof lights, modern brickwork and a series of double glazed doors that open out to a large, landscaped courtyard garden that offers the perfect spot for enjoying drinks al-fresco as well as countryside views frequented by sheep, deer and other local wildlife who come visiting. An open barn sits alongside the garden to house a fabulous six-person hot tub which, being under cover means a relaxing soak can be enjoyed morning or night no matter what the weather gets up to.

Inside, the atmosphere is one of warmth and elegance, with neutral tones and natural textures creating a space that feels both homely and inviting. Sumptuous soft furnishings and modern features adorn the rooms, and an atmosphere of airiness pervades throughout thanks to high pitched ceilings, wide windows and exposed roof timbers. At the heart of the home, the open plan living / cooking / dining area with its fabulous wood-burning stove, creates a convivial space for spending time together with family and friends, whether lounging across the sinkable sofa in front of the television, chatting over coffee at the breakfast bar while whipping up a full English, or converging round the farmhouse table for a home cooked evening meal. Two beautiful ground floor bedrooms (one with en-suite) have deliciously comfortable beds as well as their own access out to the garden, while upstairs via the home’s chunky oak staircase, lies a third spacious bedroom with a plush, upholstered sleigh bed and double volume ceiling.

Situated in the quintessentially Somerset village of Brent Knoll, the Cowshed is well positioned for making the most of all that this beautiful part of the world has to offer. From the cycling paths on the Levels to the walking trails through the Mendip and Quantock Hills (both of which are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), visitors will have plenty of fresh air adventure during their stay at this beautiful country home. Other activities in the area include kayaking, fishing and horse-riding, as well as the attractions of Wookey Hole, Brean Down beach or Weston Super Mare which are great for getting everyone out and about during the day.

A number of independent shops and restaurants can be found nearby with local pubs including the Red Cow in Brent Knoll itself, or the Railway Inn located right next to the Somerset Thatchers Cider Factory. A little further away lie the picturesque villages of Mark, Rowberrow and Wedmore where pubs like The George and The Swan make for great places to eat out if home cooking is off the agenda.

Lounge

Situated on the ground floor this lovely room is open plan with the kitchen and dining area and has large French doors to the outside courtyard as well as double doors that lead into the hall. Oak roof trusses and high-pitched apex ceilings give the room a spacious feel, with a large L-shaped sofa, flat screen Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker creating the perfect place for unwinding in.

Kitchen (with separate utility)

Located on the ground floor, the contemporary kitchen features a fantastic island unit with white stone work surfaces, a sink and Quooker tap for boiling, sparkling and ice-cold water. The island also doubles as a breakfast bar with three leather bar stools for seating. A range of large and small appliances are provided including an induction hob and electric fan-assisted range cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, iron and ironing board, toaster, kettle and vacuum cleaner

Dining Area

Incorporated between the living room and kitchen, the dining area features a stunning solid oak farmhouse kitchen table and six dining chairs

Bedroom One

Situated on the ground floor to the left of the entrance hall, this bedroom features exposed roof timbers and a natural stone feature wall as well as access out to the courtyard. It’s furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables with reading lights, a free standing single wardrobe, chest of drawers and a console table.

Bedroom Two (Master Bedroom)

Also located on the ground floor at the far end of the barn, this en-suite room features a super king size bed with side tables and lamps as well as a free-standing wardrobe, mirror and chest of drawers. The room is bright and inviting with exposed roof timbers, wooden floors and access out to the garden

Bedroom Three

Located on the first floor. Exposed stone, plush carpeting and sumptuous soft furnishings make this room a beautiful place to retreat to after a busy day out. Furnished with an upholstered double bed, bedside lamps, bedside tables, a mirror, an integrated wardrobe and chest of drawers the room is spacious and welcoming

A stylish sofa bed for one extra guest is available to facilitate family groups of up to 7

Bathroom One

The en-suite to the Master Bedroom this shower room features a wet room style shower with glass shower screen and rain head shower and handheld attachment as well as a hand basin with overhead mirror, a heated towel rail and WC

Outside

The large courtyard garden is partially laid to lawn and is a quiet place for relaxing in the sunshine. Views of the home’s rural surroundings are on show from nearly every angle as well as from the electric hot tub which sits beneath its own open-sided barn and is for the sole use of guests staying at the Cowshed. A rattan outdoor lounge suite with large glass-topped table is the perfect place for spending time together outside and when the evenings draw in, guests can gather around the fire pit for drinks and conversation.
