Minehead is a prominent coastal resort beneath West Somerset's North Hill. This pleasant town has a mile-long esplanade and a golden beach. The lovely harbour, where the paddle steamer Waverley visits in the summer, offers good fishing. Exmoor National Park's wooded valleys, attractive bridlepaths, and heather-clad moors are worth a visit, as is the nearby Norman Castle at Dunster.
