Guests say

Martingale is a well-regarded cottage in Torquay, appreciated for its cleanliness, central location, and cosy atmosphere. Guests have praised the property's proximity to local attractions and the convenience of off-road parking. While some have mentioned steep hills and the need for better recycling instructions, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as spotless and well-maintained. There was a single mention of ants, which seems to be an isolated incident.

The location is central and convenient for exploring Torquay and nearby attractions. However, several guests have noted the challenge of steep hills when walking to and from the town, which may affect those with mobility issues.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and homely, with a welcoming atmosphere. The main criticism affecting comfort is the mattress in the main bedroom, which several guests noted as sagging or uncomfortable.

The property is well-equipped and guests appreciate the amenities provided. However, there are recurring comments about the need for maintenance, such as repairs to the freezer, double glazing, and wardrobe doors, as well as issues with shower pressure and parking space constraints.

Guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper, which adds to the property's charm. While such gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that these are not guaranteed for every stay.

Couldn't fault anything, absolutely great cottage and will definitely be returning again! Thank you for such a wonderful holiday.

The off street parking is suitable. The interior of the property has been fitted and furnished to a high level and was both clean and very comfortable. All the amenities one could want for a holiday were there. Nothing to do with the property but a word of warning for the older generation ( of which I am a part) the residential area leading down to the sea front is extremely hilly. Thank you owners for a lovely week.

Off road parking was a bonus. Short walk into Town ( a friendly local showed us a cut through with steps, which made the walk more doable. We were here visiting family & shall definitely return
