Guests say

The Big Box Brandeers offers a unique and tranquil stay in Malmesbury, with guests praising its quirky charm, friendly host, and the added enjoyment of events like pizza nights. The property's peaceful garden and proximity to local attractions enhance the experience, although some guests noted issues with maintenance and privacy.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

The location is described as tranquil and quiet, with easy access to nearby towns and nature, making it ideal for a peaceful retreat. However, the proximity of a train line not mentioned in the property description slightly affects the score.

Guests found the cottage to be quirky and comfortable, with a lovely interior and a garden for dogs to run free. However, concerns about stuffiness due to non-opening windows and the property being a 'goldfish bowl' have been noted.

The property offers great WiFi, a clay pizza oven, and fresh eggs from on-site hens. However, issues with hot water and general maintenance, as well as neglected surroundings, suggest the need for improvement.

The host's hospitality is well-regarded, with special events and fresh eggs given to guests, adding a thoughtful touch. However, it should be noted that such gifts are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

Property has concrete floors with no carpets. Bedroom has no wardrobe only two hooks. Cupboard in corridor has pots and pans, not suitable as wardrobe. Duvet cover very creased. Heating poor. TV did not work.

Well equipped and a lovely interior. Enjoyed the peaceful garden and surroundings. Well situated to visit the local towns and countryside. The Roman Dig and Pizza evenings were an added bonus.

Coming back wet and cold from a cycle ride to no hot water was the final straw. The property is owner-run so Sykes only take bookings and are not liable, the owner by his own admission said it ‘probably needs a service!’. He takes no responsibility for the shortcomings and refused to pay any compensation. The best he offered was “You can walk across in the rain to another outbuilding and shower there!” Definitely not what we paid for. The building is a ‘prefab’ , glass all along the front , no opening windows in the bedroom, lounge or kitchen. Bit of a goldfish bowl as walkers on the road can look in, stuffy at night as only option was to leave door completely open and then the local dog walks in. The outlying property ‘walks’ have a neglected air about them as well as being a Scrapyard of old vans and tractors, broken machinery and glass. The ‘tennis court ‘ needs a good clear up - extension leads to the ‘Box’ running across it. Also the trainline passes 100 yards away, not mentioned in the information. The outside ‘Bar’ is a derelict shed and the ‘Swimming lake’ is a pond! It has potential to be a lot better but needs more investment and maintenance to bring it up to standard.
