The Old Swan in Malmesbury is a charming and well-appointed cottage, receiving high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location in a friendly village with convenient amenities. Guests have enjoyed the tasteful decoration, well-equipped kitchen, and cosy atmosphere, making it a favourite for many. The property is ideal for exploring the Cotswolds, with delightful walks and a welcoming pub nearby.
Guests consistently noted the property was clean and tidy upon arrival, indicating a high standard of cleanliness that contributed positively to their overall experience.
The cottage's location in a lovely village with easy access to country walks, a well-stocked shop, and a good pub within walking distance was highly appreciated by guests.
Reviewers were pleased with the comfortable furnishings, spacious rooms, and large beds. However, one mention of a lack of wardrobe space in an en suite slightly impacts the perfect score.
The property is celebrated for its well-equipped kitchen and additional amenities like WiFi and Netflix. A minor criticism regarding cooking equipment for larger groups slightly lowers the score.
While the reviews reflect a high level of satisfaction with the property's offerings and the owner's responsiveness, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that could be expected by future guests.
Set in the picturesque Cotswold village of Sherston, close to the pretty towns of Malmesbury and Tetbury, is this charm-filled, Grade II* listed former coaching inn, resting peacefully on the highly sought after main street. Boasting much character and period details, this spacious property is perfect for families or groups of friends looking to explore the delightful Cotswolds and surrounding areas. Spread over three floors, the interior is thoughtfully decorated to contrast with the style of the property, from the mullion windows, high vaulted ceilings and exposed country beams, to the quirky household accessories and bright and cheerful colour schemes. The shades of white cast over the rooms upstairs add a sleek, quality finish to the property. The blue sitting room showcases a luxurious sofa and elegant seating arrangement, focusing on the charming woodburner in the inglenook of the room. The quiet cottage comfortably sleeps 8 people spread throughout 4 bedrooms. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, both of which have en-suite bathrooms. The spacious master bedroom has a luxurious super king bed and the second bedroom has the option of 2 single beds or a super king size bed. The top floor has a further 2 bedrooms, sharing 1 large bathroom. Again, one of the top floor bedrooms has a super king size bed and the other has the option of 2 singles or 1 super king size bed.
Concluding the interior in a fashionable manner is the large farmhouse kitchen and breakfast table; combined with contemporary fixtures, white units and modern artwork; the room entices you with a homely feel.
Step out into the west-facing courtyard garden, enclosed by a stone wall, it is beautifully presented with a flourish of wild plants.
The Cotswolds offers a glorious landscape of unspoilt villages, well-tended woodlands and houses that look as though they're made of creamy fudge. The area is particularly popular with walkers and cyclists and equestrians.

The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of crockery, spices and a drawer of baking ingredients. We all agreed the beds were extremely comfortable. We contacted the owner twice about minor issues and he quickly responded and these were resolved. There are a few low door frames and upstairs wonky floors but our tall guests and elderly guest managed these successfully. The village itself is a dream, the houses are built with beautiful Cotswold stone and have an interesting history. Across the road is a very well stocked Co-op (make sure to download the Yellow Co-op app for member offers) and the food was very fresh. Nearby is a pub/restaurant and coffee shop which were well used. Round the corner is a most excellent playing field with a great deal of play equipment for all ages. The 2 zip wires being a major plus. There are many walks starting from The Swan which are detailed in the comprehensive visitor information. We could have stayed another week! Thank you
Sheila
Very comfortable and well thought out accommodation. Ideal spot to walk from, restaurant /pub and shop within walking distance and a delightful grade 1 listed church within the village. Lovely house and location.

No complaints whatsoever, just one suggestion for a second lamp in the sitting room. Sherston is a great village and the people were lovely
