About this property

Duke's Lodge is set in Bildeston, the idyllic area of the wool towns, and is one of the oldest buildings in this timeless Suffolk village. With medieval sloping wooden floors and quirky wonky beams, this cottage has been lovingly restored yet remains respectful of the original features.

Set over two floors and featuring vaulted ceilings, this hideaway showcases a variety of original period features and a private garden. The off street entrance leads you into the impressively beamed cosy ground floor sitting room with a wood burning stove and Smart television. The modern, well-equipped yet sympathetically presented kitchen features a breakfast table - an ideal spot for planning the day ahead over coffee and pastries. Through the kitchen's farmhouse style door, the pretty private mature garden with bricked terrace, can be accessed. There is also the original well that has a safety grill fitted.

In the dining room, original beams frame the space surrounding the table, making this a truly memorable place to share in meals, board games and conversation. From here, split stable doors into a cottage garden. The bathroom is also located on this ground floor.

Upstairs on the first floor, two bedrooms magnificent bedrooms with original beams are presented. With an wonderful vaulted ceiling, the master bedroom, The Duke Bedroom, hosts a super-king size bed. Bedroom two, The Duchess Bedroom, offers a king-size bed. The landing on this floor doubles up as a drawing room; a unique feature of this historical building. Also on this floor there is a cloakroom with wash basin and WC.

The deep character and history has been rejuvenated to respect its heyday in the late 14th century as a council meeting house at the height of the wool trade. With three great pubs nearby and surrounded by beautiful sleepy rolling countryside, this cottage is the idyllic hideaway for couples or families.
