Chantry Place in Long Melford is highly praised for its beautiful setting, cleanliness, and welcoming hosts, Bob and Jenny. Guests appreciate the peaceful garden, the cottage's proximity to local amenities, and the thoughtful touches, including a welcome package. While most reviews are positive, highlighting the comfort and location, a few mention minor issues with bedroom blinds and heating.
Reviews consistently mention that the cottage is spotlessly clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness maintained by the hosts.
The property is commended for its great location in the heart of the village, with easy access to local shops, eateries, and attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring Suffolk.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with a peaceful garden and well-equipped facilities. However, one review mentioned a lack of bedroom curtains affecting sleep quality, slightly lowering the score.
The cottage is described as well-equipped and beautifully furnished. There are mentions of a lack of heating during poor weather and a suggestion for additional comfortable seating, which suggests room for improvement.
Several guests were delighted by the welcome package and the hosts' friendliness, reflecting thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this score reflects the overall sentiment without setting an expectation.
Perfect retreat for a couple in the quintessential English village of Long Melford.
This quintessential English village has plenty on offer for your holiday and is nearby to some of Suffolk's hidden gems. The main street is full of wonderful antique stores, independent shops, delicious cafes, and restaurants, as well as pubs and art galleries. There are two magnificent manor houses, Kentwell Hall (1.5 miles) and Melford Hall (0.5 miles), both of which are within easy walking distance, are open to the public to tour and are a must during your stay. Sitting in Constable Country, Long Melford was made famous by two artists John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough, and it also has a rich history of wool making in the Middle Ages and makes up a part of the Wool Towns. Lavenham, Sudbury, Kersey and Clare are all a part of this collection of villages and are within 10 miles of the property. They boast some of the prettiest medieval cottages, wonderful walks and excellent pubs and restaurants.
This cosy bolthole is warm, welcoming, and ideal for a romantic getaway in the Suffolk countryside. Set on the grounds of the owners property, this annex has been wonderfully renovated and furnished to a high standard. Modern fixtures and fittings go side by side with antiques sourced from local dealers and stores. The kitchen is fully equipped for your self-catering stay but if you fancy a night off cooking, there are plenty of eateries serving scrumptious and often locally sourced food. The living area has a comfy sofa and armchair with an electric flame effect fire to snuggle up by. A generous bedroom with king-size bed is on the ground floor to the rear of the property making this an accessible space for all guests. Wake up to lovely views of the garden from the comfort of your bed. The shower room is also on the ground floor. Upstairs there is an additional bedroom with a single bed for your stay.
The enclosed garden is shared with the owners and beautifully landscaped. There is a small patio area dedicated to the property with a bistro table and chairs but feel free to explore the rest of the garden.
