Newmarket is a small, attractive Suffolk town known as the home of horse racing. Newmarket has the country's largest race horse training centre and breeding centre, and the surrounding area has over 60 breeding studs and over 3000 race horses, many of which can be seen exercising on the gallops. You can explore Newmarket's horse racing past at the National Horse Racing Museum, one of the training yards, or the National Stud. Newmarket racecourse holds 38 meetings from April to October. Cambridge, Ely, and Bury St Edmunds are within easy driving distance of Newmarket.
