The Folly is a highly praised holiday rental, celebrated for its unique charm, beautiful gardens, and peaceful setting reminiscent of the Italian countryside. Guests consistently commend the warm and friendly hosts, as well as the thoughtful welcome baskets filled with homemade and local treats. The property is noted for its cleanliness, comfort, and the delightful presence of the hosts' dog, Barney. While most find The Folly cosy and well-equipped, a few guests mention the spiral staircase and compact spaces as considerations for future visitors.
Guests frequently describe The Folly as spotlessly clean and well-maintained, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The Folly is lauded for its tranquil and beautiful setting, with expansive views and a garden that guests can enjoy. Its proximity to local villages and eateries, as well as the peaceful environment, contribute to its high location score.
The majority of reviews highlight the comfort of The Folly, mentioning the cosy atmosphere, comfortable bed, and warm welcome. However, a few guests have noted the spiral staircase and bathroom size as less comfortable aspects.
Facilities at The Folly are generally well-received, with guests appreciating the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor areas. Some concerns are raised about the compactness of cooking facilities and the challenge of the spiral staircase, slightly lowering the score.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests expressing gratitude for the generous welcome baskets. It should be noted that while such gifts are common, they are a courtesy and not guaranteed.
The Folly is a “small but perfectly formed” property that will allow you to relax in the quiet of the Herefordshire countryside or go exploring to see some of the unspoilt towns and sites of the Marches. The Folly was built simply as a decorative feature to an ornate garden and is now approached by a short walk through a developing woodland, but the property has now been renovated with much thought being given to making the most of the available space, having been compared to a perfect doll's house! The upgrade includes a mini kitchen, with a combi microwave and induction hob, a relaxing settee, also a TV, DVD player and WiFi. When you walk in, it does not feel at small because of the large gothic shaped door and windows, and you will find a narrow spiral staircase to the bedroom where there is a comfortable bed and separate WC and shower, and though features and furniture are small, everything is interesting, unusual and finished to a very high standard. Outside is a large patio, planted with all edible plants, a table, chairs, BBQ and a large summer house, originally built to compliment the Folly, which are all available for guests. The Folly is within the grounds of Arrow Cottage yet is completely separate and private, being situated on a very quiet lane, the surroundings of fields, orchards and wooded hills makes this a beautiful quiet place to unwind. If you enjoy walking, a 30 minute walk takes you into the picturesque village of Weobley, the “Jewel in the Crown” of the black and white villages where you can visit the pub the Salutation or enjoy a coffee or lunch at Green Bean or Jules. More energetic walks include the Offa's Dyke footpath, the Wye Valley footpath and the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) are all close by, you’ll also be just 15 minutes from the River Wye which offers fishing and canoeing. For shopping there are the historic towns of Ledbury and Ludlow, both of which boast architecturally interesting buildings, including Ludlow Castle, and also many independent shops. In Hereford you will find the usual mainstream shops and also Hereford Cathedral which houses the Mappa Mundi. About 20 minutes drive away is the world famous town of Hay on Wye which hosts the annual literary festival as well as the greatest number of bookshops you are ever likely to find in one town. Also, within a short drive are many gardens including Stockton Bury which has just been shortlisted as one of the top NGS gardens in the country, and The National Trust properties of Berrington Court and Brockhampton, are a short drive away. All in all the Folly is a relaxing and unusual property from which to explore the rural tranquillity of Herefordshire.
Weobley is a large village and civil parish resting in Herefordshire, England. Once a market town, the village has since gained the title of one of the country's black and white villages. It offers a supermarket and a small choice of pubs and restaurants for your amenities, as well as resting within driving distance to market town of Leominster and the city of Hereford for a larger choice and many tourist attractions. A fantastic break for all awaits at this charming village.

The grounds are there for you to wander around at your leisure and Barny the little dog will give you a warm welcome. The hosts were the best we have ever met and we have done very many holidays of this kind. Lots of interesting places to visit and most no more than 45 minutes away. We look forward to another visit in the not to distant future.

I was staying for work but would consider coming back for a holiday. The garden is beautiful and I spent an evening wandering around taking photos of all the things in the garden. As I stayed for work, I cooked most evenings and found that the hob and microwave oven was all I needed to make some tasty meals. The bedroom was lovely and the right size and I probably had one of the best nights sleep in the bed I've had in a long time! The owners were also very accommodating when I needed help and their dog Barney is lovely!

It was a last minute decision to book. The grounds are beautiful and you kindly have free run of them. The car parking is off road. You need to close the large wooden gate each time as the owners have a dog (who will come and visit you. Very sweet). You then walk the length of the garden to the Folly at the end. It is small but every bit of space is utilised. The spiral staircase could be an issue for some but you know this when you book. Plenty of hanging space in bedroom but getting suitcases upstairs is a challenge! The nearest neighbour is not the owner's house but another. Not much is open in the village of Woebley which is 30 mins walk on roads or 45 mins by fields. Internet unfortunately was non existent so Smart TV was pointless. May have been a blip. TV tiny. There are DVDs and a built in player. Good selection of books and games. Lovely welcome basket of home made bread and jam and fresh eggs plus more. We received a warm welcome from Jim and were offered early check-in. Very handy as we were already in the vicinity. The bed has a lightweight duvet. Towels were very stained. There is a bbq in the summer house which is also yours to use and provision of an area with sun loungers. 2 induction cooking rings were efficient and combi/microwave. Couldn't be bothered to read the lengthy instruction booklet for that! Fridge with small freezer compartment. We like to cook when away and as pubs were rarely open glad we had that option. We did have a drink at the Salutation and in Dilwyn village but no food on offer. You can book to eat out locally in the evening if places are open. Plenty of National Trust and gardens in the area. Would we stay again? Possibly. It was a novelty but we really like more space on holiday. Thank you for a lovely break.
