About this property

Leominster 3.7 miles. Grove Cottage is an idyllic country retreat in a splendid Grade II listed Game Keepers Cottage designed by John Nash and Humphrey Repton whilst they were working on the Hampton Court Estate for the Arkwright family. John Nash also designed Buckingham Palace, Marble Arch, Royal Pavilion and Regent Street. The Cottage design was a template given to many of the Estates and this one was for a Game Keepers Cottage for the Hampton Court Estate. Situated up a lane on the owner’s farm, in the hamlet of Ford Bridge near Leominster, Herefordshire. This idyllic country retreat is a perfect choice for families and friends looking to experience the wonders of Herefordshire, with access to plenty of on-site facilities including an 18-hole golf course, ten pin bowling, bar, and a restaurant. Step inside Grove Cottage, a characterful Game Keepers Cottage with plenty of charm, and you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice box and a breakfast bar. The ideal space for creating delicious home-cooked meals, the kitchen opens into a spacious living/dining room complete with a woodburning stove and Smart TV, perfect for cosy nights in. The utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, so you can easily freshen up your wardrobe. Wind down the day in one of the two bedrooms, pick from a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, both stylishly presented. Freshen up in the ground-floor shower room before heading out to explore the beautiful countryside. Finally, make the most of the peaceful location with a glass of something special on the spacious garden patio with furniture, fire pit and hot tub, bringing a touch of luxury to your stay. Within the grounds you can create some friendly competition- If you enjoy a round of golf then there are two challenging nine hole courses, professionally landscaped with outstanding stone and water features. Combined with top class playing surfaces, rolling woodland with panoramic views and you can see why this is an excellent challenge whatever your golfing standard, either 9 holes on the original Badger Course, popular with golfers of all levels but particularly loved by less experienced players or when time is a premium. The Deer Run gives a challenging links type course with large full U.S.G.A․ spec greens and sand tees, giving excellent drainage, playing surfaces and holding Greens. Both these courses can be played as either 9 holes or combined as 18 holes with professional tuition available and there is Leominster Golf Course next door to us which is an additional 18 holes. Why not check out the 18 hole Mini Adventure Golf course which has been built to test the putting skills of all ages and abilities and enables everyone to join in the fun with all equipment provided. To compliment the course, a beer garden has been built with a central oak barn and al fresco seating area. When it comes to exploring the local area, the historic market town of Leominster is just a brief drive away, where you can peruse the local boutiques, sample some traditional British cuisine, pop into a local bar for a relaxing drink, or visit one of the four museums for a taste of the town’s rich history. It had everything you could possibly need and the owners had left delicious homemade cake and a basket of snacks also eggs and milk, really appreciated after a long journey. There is a restaurant nearby and also other facilities. This cottage is a little gem and the owners have created the most lovely country retreat. Thank you Zena and Roger. We will be back!

The second week Zena made us delicious home made scones. Mmmm! Zena also left us lots of added extras that were a big surprise and most welcome. Having a private hot tub in the lovely garden area was also an added bonus; as well as close access to the golf club and restaurant, crazy golf etc. Zena was on hand, only a phone call away, if we needed anything, and was very nice and friendly. We enjoyed getting out and about a lot, as well as enjoying some time in the lovely, historic, cosy cottage. We would highly recommend Grove Cottage.

The location was secluded and peaceful but not too far from everything. The welcome hamper and attention to detail provided by Zena and Roger was excellent and much appreciated. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We tried the bowling and steak night which was very good at the golf club. Excellent place to stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again ourselves.
