About this property

Hugging the perimeter of the Shropshire Hills, this quaint cosy cottage with original features in the village of Neenton, only 6 miles from Bridgnorth, provides a homely base for dog walkers, hikers, and cyclists when they’re not out exploring the picturesque county. Outdoor enthusiasts can pick a public footpath crossing nearby farmlands or adventure deeper into the aonb (Church Stretton, Clee Hill) with ease, before returning to the pub, situated no more than a few strides away from the cottage, serving local ales and delicious food. Visit the charming town of Bridgnorth which straddles the River Severn, home to the oldest and steepest inland funicular railway. As well as the Severn Valley Steam Railway, gardens and castle ruins to explore, you have an abundance of independent shops, museums and eateries. Slightly further afield, vibrant Ludlow (12 miles) is a town steeped in history, architecture, and independent culture, and, famed for its annual food festival, has become a foodies’ haven. Shrewsbury (25 miles), Ironbridge (14 miles) and Telford (19 miles) are also easily accessible from the property and worth a visit.

Entering through the rear of the property allows you to shake down the outdoors in a utility and boot room, with hard tiles, sink, cupboard storage and a washing machine. Follow the original Welsh quarry tile as it takes you through the spacious hallway and into the main living space. An impressive inglenook fireplace takes centre stage, housing a traditional wood burning fire, with your first basket of logs provided during the winter months. It’s here you get a feel for how modern comforts and interior design can blend seamlessly with the period features of an older cottage. An oak table seating four sits in one corner and a stylish three-seater sofa in the other, perfect for those evenings snuggled up, under the blankets provided, watching the Smart TV. On a lazy Sunday afternoon reach for your book and get lost in the pages lounging in the stylishly modern rocking chair. Throughout the property you’ll see references of the stunning Shropshire in the artwork, many of which have been done by local artist. From the living area, move into the traditional farmhouse kitchen, with plenty of space and equipment to rustle up a seasonal dinner sourced from local suppliers in the neighbouring towns. Back through to the hallway, before heading upstairs, you’ll find the modern, beautifully finished bathroom. A large walk-in shower is perfect for refreshing up after a long day exploring. Take the handrail as you climb the traditional L shaped staircase. The first bedroom to your left is a bright and airy twin bedroom with beautifully coloured interiors, a chest of drawers for storage and a lovely vista to wake up to, out across the garden. The double bed in the main bedroom also provides rural views from the comfort of laying down, along with storage and an en-suite WC.

A garden of shrubbery and plants surround the cottage, with the main outside space being situated to the rear. There is a paved, undercover patio with seating, right outside the door which catches the morning sun beautifully. Extending out in front of the patio is a long lawn area with additional seating at the end of the garden to catch the evening sun and light the fire pit, where the local church makes for a pretty backdrop whilst you dine alfresco. The cottage is next to the owner’s property, however privacy during your stay is assured.
