About this property

This gorgeous period cottage is set in the picturesque Shropshire Hills, enjoying stunning views across the Clun Valley. It’s the ideal base for families and couples looking to get away from it all in breathtaking surroundings. You’ll find a whole host of walking routes to explore from your front door, including the long-distance Offa’s Dyke Path. For shopping and eating out, head to Bishops Castle (8.5 miles) or Ludlow (24 miles).

The 19th-century stone cottage is bursting with rustic charm, with exposed woodwork, traditional furniture, and far-reaching countryside views through its original windows. The property is located on an organic working farm and is entirely self-sufficient, with solar panels and a wind turbine. Enter via the stable door and into the cosy lounge/diner, featuring an original stone floor and a stone fireplace housing a warming wood burner. Relax here in the evenings, watching TV, sharing family mealtimes, and reading books from the selection provided. A small step leads to the compact kitchen, which has been cleverly configured to include everything needed for a self-catering holiday. Just off the kitchen is the family bathroom. Upstairs, two gorgeous bedrooms await, both with neutral decor, period features, and relaxing countryside views. In an adjacent outbuilding, you’ll find a games room with a pool table, table tennis, dartboard, and table football. Outside, soak up the peace and tranquillity in the enclosed garden, where you can dine alfresco on the terrace or sip a morning coffee on the bench. Guests are also welcome to explore the farmland surrounding the property.

Step into a slower pace of life in the tiny town of Clun (6.5 miles). Amble amongst its ancient streets, marvelling at the historic buildings and cute cottages, before grabbing a bite to eat in a friendly pub or cafe. Just outside the town is the old castle mound, and a climb to its summit rewards you with magnificent views across the valley. The unspoilt medieval town of Bishops Castle is also well worth a visit, particularly if you are staying during one of the town’s many festivals or cultural events.
