A delightful holiday cottage for two providing the chance to enjoy a taste of country life  in a peaceful tranquil position amongst countryside on the Shropshire/Cheshire borders. Perfect for escaping away from the crowds and providing the ultimate in relaxation.  Chester and Shrewsbury are lovely towns to visit as well as the numerous gardens and attractions. There are wonderful walks from Sandstone Hills to easier walks along the canals of Audlem and Whitchurch with tearooms on route.

Briarhill Farm is home to two Gold Award winning cottages which are situated on the Cheshire/Shropshire border. Please note that we only ever book out one cottage at a time and so therefore privacy and seclusion for our guests. There are dark skies with wonderful stars and the odd hooting from our resident owls.

Oaktree is a very spacious country cottage that sits on a waterside setting in a tranquil spot surrounded by countryside. Sleeping two guests, this spacious retreat is perfect for couples and has a king-size bedroom leading out to a large balcony which overlooks the wildlife pond and beautiful gardens and so a perfect place for enjoying morning coffee or tea. The lounge with comfy seating also lets the outside in, with French doors opening out onto the gardens. Oaktree is the perfect location for people who require privacy in a tranquil location. From the cottage door is a lovely peaceful walk down our private lane and you may be lucky to spot our wonderful barn owl on route as well as the many birds which have made their home at the cottage.

The Cheshire village of Audlem is only ten minutes away where you will find circular canal side walks, tea rooms, shops and a boating marina. There is a nature reserve within a five minute drive offering woodland walks, along with four good pubs with log fires serving food with one being voted the best country pub in the country. Whitchurch is 4 miles away and this has an abundance of tearooms and even two michelin restaurants as well as a huge Sainsburys and Tesco supermarkets. The area also offers numerous National Trust properties gardens and castles to visit whilst Chester and Shrewsbury are only 25 minutes away. The Welsh Border is 4 miles away with days out at Llangollen and Ellesmere plus Betsy Coed with its zip world.

We have some lovely gardens close by such as Wollerton Gardens, Hodnet Hall Gardens, Bridgemere Garden World and Dorothy Clive Gardens.

Awarded 4 Star Gold for quality accommodation and excellent customer service, the cottage is well suited for people who want to escape to the country for some peace and quiet amongst the surrounding wildlife. Oaktree Cottage is presented to a high standard and has wonderful private gardens and a patio with garden furniture for sitting out and soaking up the peace and tranquillity.

The wildlife pond adds to the relaxed environment and attracts lots of wildlife including ducks, dragonflies, moorhens, squirrels, woodpeckers and owls. If you are really lucky you may even see bats flying around!

Frogs Retreat Spa Room is the perfect place to spoil yourself at the end of the day with an energising massage in the wonderful hydrotherapy spa/hot tub - just sit back and admire the beautiful views over the Shropshire countryside while you bubble your aches away. (supplement charge for using this facility) The hot tub can be booked with this cottage and is private and not shared.

Oaktree Cottage is a spacious cottage for two guests and comprises:

Country beamed Kitchen/diner with superb views from the windows, equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, fridge/freezer, oven/hob with extractor and CD player. There is also a dining table with chairs and a reading sofa under the window. This room leads into...

Lounge with French doors opening out onto the patio and gardens which overlook the pond. There are is a very comfortable reclining settee and a reading armchair which sit in front of the cosy effect electric woodburner which is lovely on winter nights. There is a 32" flat screen tv with freeview and a dvd player with a large dvd library.

Stairs lead up to the landing with built in wardrobe and then into...

Romantic king-size bedroom with French doors leading onto the balcony providing lovely views over the pond and surrounding Shropshire countryside. Antique washstand, dressing table with mirror compliment the charm of this room and the balcony with its table and chairs is a lovely place for morning coffee whilst overlooking the wildlife pond and fields. The king size bed is very comfortable with egyptian bedding to for a good nights sleep.

Bathroom with spacious shower cubicle, wash basin and WC with views over the courtyard and hen garden.

The Frogs Retreat houses our luxury hot tub ( supplement charge) which has two built in recliners with overhead coloured atmospheric roof lights. Sit and relax overlooking the fields which Oaktree has to offer. There is also a table and a shower to compliment this room.

Utility room is located next to the Frogs Retreat and there is a large dvd library and washing machine in this room. Perfect for drying wet coats and muddy boots.

Outside: The garden is located to the side and front of the cottage which roses climb the wall in the warmer months, providing a lovely scent from the kitchen and snug windows. The garden leads to the pond which is home to an abundance of birds and wildlife.
