The rural community of Trefonen is located between the historic English border town of Oswestry and the Welsh community of Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, where the highest single drop waterfall in the United Kingdom is located. There is a pub and a general store in this quaint community, and Offa's Dyke passes right through the centre of town. It is adjacent to the location where scenes from the popular 1995 film "The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain" were shot. Wonderful picturesque walks and cycle paths, including as the Berwyn Ridge Pathway, the Offa's Dyke Path, and through the gorgeous Tanat and Ceiriog Valleys, can be found all throughout the area and extend into the Berwyn Mountain Range. Travel to the nearby market town of Ellesmere or the riverside town of Llangollen, home to the World Heritage Site Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Chirk and Powis Castles and Gardens, Erddig, and Attingham Park. The Welsh mountains and coast, as well as the beautiful Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, are just a short drive away, as are the historic towns of Shrewsbury and Chester, both of which were founded by the Romans. Trefonen is a great starting point from which to explore the rest of Mid Wales and perhaps Shropshire.

We met Peter in-person and had text contact with Sarah - both were really friendly and helpful. The accommodation was well thought out, clean, comfortable and well-equipped and maintained. The hob took a little working-out, though we sorted it. We slept really well, apart when being dive-bombed by a couple of flies (it is a working livestock farm so some flies can be expected). We used the barbeque every day, and the hot tub most days or nights (if you wanted to skinny-dip, the hot tub can be seen from the top floor of the farm house). It is a beautiful and quiet secluded spot, great for nature lovers. There are towns and villages within easy reach, though we did not eat out at any local pubs so I cannot comment on those. Overall, we had a really enjoyable time, away from the hustle and bustle of our usual lives, and would definitely consider staying again. Maybe next time we will try out the new Heron Pod. Thank you Peter and Sarah for a lovely stay.

Communication before we arrived was key and stress free, we was greeted upon arrival and any questions were asked and we were shown how to use the hot tub which was already heated up for us and ready to dive in. we were told about nice walks in the area and nice places to eat. The place itself was beautiful, great location, clean and tidy and they really had thought about everything. The bed was really comfy, shower was good, we used the gas bbq which worked a treat. The hot tub was good, only negative bit about it was with it being a wood fired hot tub it doesn’t give off the jacuzzi effect with bubbles etc but we knew this anyway. Again good location, nice and quiet, the sound of wildlife was really nice, again only negative was there was a lot of flys in the trailer but had plenty of ways to stop this. Overall we really enjoyed a child free weekend and I would certainly recommend to anyone. Thank you
