Oswestry is 9 miles in the opposite direction with its town trail, well preserved hilltop Iron Age fort, farmers market, shops and restaurants. The British Ironwork Centre (7.5 miles) is well worth a visit too. Further afield you can travel 21 miles to the Long Mynd in Church Stretton, an excellent base for country lovers and sportsman alike with walking, cycling and hang gliding for all abilities. Additional highlights include Hawkstone Park Follies (19.5 miles), and both the National Trust s Attingham Park (15 miles) and Wenlock Edge (22 miles). A lovely place for a romantic retreat.
