The Stables in Shropshire is highly praised for its cleanliness, picturesque location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the private walled garden, the thoughtful touches from the hosts, and the cottage's peaceful setting. While some minor issues with furnishings and appliances are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning return visits.
Guests consistently describe the property as 'spotlessly clean' and very well-maintained, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the cottage.
The property is lauded for its beautiful and peaceful location with great views and proximity to local towns and attractions. The distance from the parking area is mentioned, but it does not detract significantly from the overall experience.
Reviews highlight the property as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with a few guests noting the need for warmer bedding or more comfortable mattresses in one of the rooms.
The cottage is well-equipped with necessary amenities and a lovely garden. Some guests suggest updates to crockery and better instructions for appliances, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures such as welcome packs and toiletries. While these are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such personal touches, though common, are at the discretion of the hosts and may vary.
Tucked away in the tiny village of Frodesley, The Stables is a picturesque holiday home offering up a truly tranquil base from which to explore the Shropshire Hills. With outstanding views of the surrounding countryside from every window, and attractive features such as original beams on the walls and ceiling, this beautifully converted stable is perfectly suited to one or two couples, or a family of 4.
Frodesley is located in the centre of Shropshire's “Golden Triangle”; sited between Shrewsbury, the Ironbridge Gorge, and Ludlow. Designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you will be well placed to enjoy long walks or cycle rides in the beautiful and ever-changing countryside. When you return to the Stables, pop your boots by the door and make the most of the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a tasty reviving meal, or take advantage of our local farm shop just 2 minutes down the road. It offers a range of fresh produce, delicious cakes and biscuits, local produce and best of all a variety of ready meals all prepared on site. Once replete you can relax on the sofas in the comfortable living room and enjoy a film or your favourite binge watch on the flat screen TV. Books and games in the cupboard offer an alternative or a rainy afternoon solution. Free WiFi. From the lounge the Patio doors open onto your private well stocked garden, a lovely sunspot to indulge in alfresco dining or just relaxing in the sunshine. Back inside, an attractive king-size bedroom promises a good night's sleep and next door the cosy twin room is the perfect place for the children to settle down, in peace and quiet, equally suitable for 2 more adults of course.
At the end of the hall, a light modern bathroom can be found with a spacious bath and separate shower, always warm and cosy with underfloor heating and heated towel rail. From the Stables, the view is of the Lawley and the Caradoc, very popular with walkers all through the year and hang gliders in the summer. In the valley between these and the Long Mynd nestles the town of Church Stretton, less than a 10-minute drive away, where you will find a good-sized Co-op, chemists, Post Office, bakery and plenty of smaller interesting shops.
Alternatively spend the day in the bustling and historical town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin. Famed for its intriguing ‘Shuts and Passages’ and overlooked by Shrewsbury Castle, home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum, the town nestles in the crook of the River Severn. The Quarry parkland follows the length of the river and features ‘The Dingle’; an outstanding formal garden and water feature with lots of seating for relaxing and taking in the view. With museums, the Theatre Severn and numerous independent shops and places to eat the town has plenty to offer all ages. Within a short distance you can also find the towns of Much Wenlock and Ludlow and various sites of historic interest. A beautiful rural location, perfect for an all-year round break.
Dorrington is a charming village set in the heart of Shropshire, between the popular towns of Church Stretton and Shrewsbury. Boasting a quaint Post Office with village store and a friendly local pub serving up delicious hot meals, visitors to the area will find all the essentials right on their doorsteps. The Stiperstone Hills and Carding Mill Valley can be found just a stone's throw away providing ample opportunity to explore the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whilst further afield Telford makes for an excellent day out.

The cottage is set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, and has everything you need. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds, plenty of soft towels, and enough jigsaws to entertain us the whole week. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and the private, enclosed garden was ideal for the children. The Stables is also ideally located for days out, with a week packed with visits to National Trust destinations, Ironbridge, Telford Town Park (fantastic for the kids), Quarry Splash Park in Shrewsbury and a walk along the river, and Ludlow Farm. We also visited The Pound in Leebotwood for some delicious pie, which has a small play area outside. The Stables is definitely somewhere we will book again in the future. It's ideal for families as well as those wanting to get away for some uninterrupted peace and quiet. Just wonderful!
