Walnut View is a well-received cottage in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales, praised for its spaciousness, beautiful setting, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests enjoyed the property's immaculate garden, comfortable beds, and the local village's dog-friendly pubs. While some minor maintenance issues and additional information on local amenities were suggested, the overall experience was positive, with many guests recommending the property and expressing a desire to return.
The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. While some guests found it comfortable and clean, others noted issues with oven cleanliness, chipped plates, and the need for a more thorough cleaning of kitchen cupboards. These isolated incidents suggest room for improvement, but overall, the property was maintained to a satisfactory standard.
The location of Walnut View is highly regarded, with guests appreciating its countryside setting and proximity to pretty villages and dog-friendly pubs. Its rural charm and access to walking trails added to the appeal, although some noted it was a bit remote for those without transport.
Comfort levels were generally high, with praise for the property's spaciousness and comfortable beds. However, some guests felt that the sofas were not large enough for six adults, and there were suggestions for king-size beds and minor improvements to enhance comfort further.
Facilities at the cottage were well-received, with a well-stocked kitchen and ample space. Nonetheless, guests mentioned the need for additional kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, and clearer instructions for appliances. Maintenance issues like a loose tap and a wasps' nest were also reported, indicating a need for attention to detail.
There is insufficient information to assess the level of thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

The home itself is a really lovely space....bright, plenty of room, not overlooked and lots of lovely furniture. However unfortunately thats where the positives kind of end. We arrived after dark, after an Alton Towers trip. The house was lovely and warm and the owner came to switch the outdoor lights on for us. The next morning, we then sadly noticed how unclean the property was. The ensuite floor was full of short (some curly) dark hair. My husband had a shower and used the towels provided and was greeted with a big clump of hair on his face. I then showered my daughter and within her towel was an old sock! Needless to say we went out and bought new towels as that put us off so much. The flooring throughout was unhoovered (unsuprisingly as the hoover is missing a nozzle so impossible to hoover with any great effect) and the sofa was covered in dog hair (again we had to purchase throws). The toilet in the ensuite is not fixed to the wall, the cloakroom tap was wobbly (as previously mentioned by many guests, but nothing fixed). The piano is a lovely addition but the stool is very unsafe for children as the seat pad comes off and a small bottom can easily fall through. The valance sheets around the bottom of the beds are stained and literally covered in dog hair. The inside of the kitchen drawers are dirty with broken utensils. The microwave was full of splatters which could easily have been wiped off...but that shouldnt be for the guest to do. In fact so many marks on walls, doors, worktops, tables etc should have all been wiped but that was left for us to do. Whilst hoovering (if you can call it that without any attachments) we noticed cobwebs literally on every wall and corner. Now im happy with fresh cobwebs as we all have them, but these had been here a while. There were dead flies and wasps on the windowsill. The pillows provided are very thin which didnt affect me as i dont like a plumped pillow but the other guests found them very uncomfortable. The spares in the wardrobe, some were yellow and stained and put us off. Patio furniture was unuseable as cushions left out in the rain and covered in leaves. There was no bin in the bathroom and the kitchen bin is too small for the use of 6 people...particularly if no recycling option is available so we found we had to change the bin twice a day which meant we had to buy new bin bags....no biggie but could be sorted with a bigger bin and a recycling bin. All in all...if this place had a good clean, some TLC, we would be back in a heartbeat. Such a shame at present, as it could be so so gorgeous!! We hate leaving negative feedback but it seems previous reviews stating the same, have been overlooked and not addressed. To the owners, please take this on board and remedy at least some of the things as they are easily fixable...especially as they are repeat comments from previous guests. It just needs a bit of time and effort putting into it and then i think you could actually charge more than you do as its a beautiful home in a beautiful location Thanks for the stay x

Stayed here with our two Daughters in their mid-twenties & their Boyfriends & their two puppies. Plenty of room for Everybody to be together and had the best time ever! Walks off-road immediately outside the property which was great as didnât need to get in the car every time. Great dog friendly pubs nearby that you can walk to.. plus a convenience store. So much to do. The week flew & plan to go back for another Family Reunion in April for another week for my Husbandâs big Birthday

He also enjoyed his game of treasure hunting finding a watch under a cupboard, a ball left by a previous pet and some sweets under the sofa. We were suprised not to find information on when to put the bin out or recycling, the tap was loose in the cloakroom and we couldn't find the head attachment for the vacuum cleaner. There was still a free wasps round so we couldn't leave doors or windows open but it also wasn't the weather to have them open. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the trip out to Cannock Chase and the resevoir was good. We played games in the evening and it was a relaxing stay.
