Heythrop is a spacious cottage in the Peak District, ideal for large groups and families, particularly those visiting Alton Towers. Guests appreciate the property's warm and cosy atmosphere upon arrival, with some thoughtful touches noted. However, opinions on cleanliness and maintenance vary, with some guests reporting issues that detract from the overall experience.
Cleanliness has been a significant concern among several guests, with reports of dirty beds, bathrooms, and kitchenware. Some guests found the property to be very clean, but the number of negative comments suggests that cleanliness is inconsistent.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to Alton Towers and the beautiful surrounding countryside, making it an excellent spot for both theme park enthusiasts and nature lovers.
The property is generally considered comfortable, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. However, some guests suggest that the beds and sofas could be more comfortable, and the presence of a potentially aggressive pheasant has affected the enjoyment of the outdoor space for some.
Facilities and maintenance issues have been highlighted, including broken appliances and furniture. While the property is equipped for large groups, the need for updates and repairs is evident from guest feedback.
Some guests have mentioned thoughtful gestures such as flowers, biscuits, and wine upon arrival. However, as these are not consistently reported or guaranteed, they should be considered a pleasant bonus rather than an expectation.

We have stayed in the other 2 properties before and choose these for the easy access in and out of Alton Towers. The location couldn't be better. The houses are always comfortable and warm but could do with a refresh.

One light in the bedroom didnât work. WiFi was sketchy. Great position for Alton towers. Well stocked kitchen, plates and cutlery.

Lovely log fire, good sized rooms, cozy cottage vibe for a large family. Perfect of visiting Alton Towers as only a 5 minute walk from the park. Only slight issue was the lack of shower curtain or door on the landing bathroom upstairs which made it difficult to shower without soaking the floor. Overall it was excellent and our family of 10 will be back
