Guests have praised the cleanliness, the warm welcome from Father Philip, and the thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers and cake. While some have noted noise from a nearby pub, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many eager to return.

Cleanliness

Guests consistently describe the property as spotlessly clean, with attention to detail that contributes to a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Location

The property's location in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales is appreciated for its historic charm and proximity to local amenities. However, some guests mention noise from nearby pubs and a busy road, which slightly impacts the tranquillity.

Comfort

The lodge is frequently described as cosy, comfortable, and well-equipped, with a particularly comfortable bed and warm atmosphere. The steep stairs are noted, but they add to the property's historic character.

Facilities

Facilities are generally praised for being modern and well-maintained, though there are occasional mentions of issues with internet connectivity and kitchen appliances, which prevent a perfect score.

Thoughtfulness

Many reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures such as fresh flowers, cake, and a warm personal welcome. While these gifts are highly appreciated, they are a courtesy and may vary with each stay.

About this property

This beautiful Polesworth cottage occupies the first and second floor of one side of the medieval gatehouse leading to Polesworth Abbey, extending across the arched entrance way. This Polesworth cottage provides a charming double galleried bedroom with sloping ceiling, exposed beams and a luxurious bathroom with freestanding slipper bath. Set in the oldest part of the gatehouse, a three-bay chamber provides open plan living accommodation which has been lovingly furnished with a well-equipped fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an original stone fireplace and warming woodburner. Note: This property can be booked with Gatehouse Croft (ref 27120), together they sleep 6.

The town of Tamworth is a large market town which takes its name from the River Tame which flows through the town, along with the River Anker.
