About this property

A superb, semi-detached, Grade II listed stone cottage in the centre of the pretty village of Alton, just 1.2 miles from the popular Alton Towers Theme Park. Tastefully furnished to a contemporary theme, the cottage has two king-size bedrooms. The first bedroom is spacious and includes a king-size double bed with beautiful oak furniture and soft furnishings and a woodburner. The second bedroom is equally finished but also includes a permanent staircase which leads up to the second floor loft conversion with a single bed and a cabin-style bed, meaning it also has the flexibility to act as a family bedroom. The cottage would therefore equally lend itself to two couples wanting to enjoy the pubs and restaurants of Alton or a family of six wanting a base very close to Alton Towers. Set over three floors, guests enter the cottage to the open plan and superbly-equipped kitchen/diner which boasts an oak dining table, seating six, and a kitchen with a Belfast sink and a range-style cooker. The living room is beautifully finished with contemporary soft furnishings and high quality furniture. A stone fireplace features a woodburner which is perfect for snuggling up in front of at the end of the day after you have exhausted yourself with the many activities available on your doorstep. The bathroom, with boutique finish, designer bath and separate shower, completes the wonderful accommodation. Outside, there is a private, enclosed patio with furniture and a door leading into the garage where you are free to securely store bikes. As the cottage is in the centre of Alton there are shops, pubs and restaurants just a stone’s throw away and there’s even a Gothic castle to explore! For the adrenaline junkies in your party, the popular theme park, Alton Towers, is just 1.2 miles away from your holiday cottage. A fantastically-located, luxury cottage to be enjoyed throughout all seasons.

We knew it was on street parking, however, it took forever even with the kids help to unload the car. This was mainly due to having to cross the busiest road back and forth with our belongings. Once inside the property, we found it had everything we needed and was big enough for 2 adults and 3 children and the little ones loved the bedroom in loft. In summary, we had a good stay, although would probably not return due to the parking and difficulty unloading / loading the car.

Exactly what we were looking for. Communication from the host was excellent and he sent us a really useful information pack via email in advance, which was much appreciated. There were also some very kind supplies provided on arrivals which was very kind and a lovely thing to do. As I say the stay was really great and the only part that caused us concern was the access to one side in the loft bedroom between the narrow stair access. The loft room.is split in two and the left hand side (when assending the stairs) of the loft bedroom (1 single bed to each side which was split by the staircase) led straight into the void of the top of the staircase and even although there was a stairgate provided, due to the layout it could be used slightly further down the stairs. This did still leave the real possibility that the children could drop down a few steps into the top of the narrow stairwell. We improvised by moving the bedside cabinet to block of the drop area and put the eldest (5 year old) of the two children into the bed located in that side of the loft room.

Only complaint is that it was a little hard to figure out where the house actually was from the address given.
