Settled in the small village of Oxenhope in West Yorkshire, surrounded by countryside, is this pretty, terraced cottage, Penistone View. Enjoying a blend of contemporary and rustic features, with a stylish kitchen and exposed stone walls, this holiday home makes a wonderful escape for two couples or a family of four. Step inside to discover the living/dining room, where you can unwind with a cup of tea on the sofa, as the woodburning stove flickers before you. Catch-up on much-loved shows on the Smart TV and when stomachs start to rumble, gather around the dining table to tuck-in, why not uncork a bottle of wine to celebrate your getaway? Adjacent, you will find the shaker-style kitchen with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, as well as a dishwasher so you don't need to worry about making a mess! When the sun is shining, venture out into the rear garden to soak in the greenery and take a seat on the furniture to watch the sunset. As the evening cools, retreat indoors and climb upstairs for a bubble-bath or stand under the shower for a hot rinse. When sleep calls, two well-presented double bedrooms await, so why not make a hot chocolate and escape into the pages of a book? In the morning, start your day with a home-cooked breakfast, courtesy of the kitchen appliances before embarking on an outdoor adventure to explore the plethora of walks close-by. Enjoy the peaceful setting of Oxenhope Millennium Green or for a long hike, test your stamina on Bronte way; afterwards you can reward yourself at the local pub, The Bay Horse Inn. From Oxenhope you can catch the train into the village of Haworth, renowned for its association with the Bronte family, where you can visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum and tour the Wuthering Arts to immerse yourself in literature. Jump in the car to explore the market town of Hebden Bridge for a great selection of walks or venture to the town of Skipton for sweeping moors and an ancient castle. For all this and more, escape to Penistone View.
The small community of Oxenhope is surrounded by beautiful landscape and provides access to a variety of treks in the area. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, which was featured in the film The Railway Children and runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley, has its terminal in the village, which has stores, churches, and pubs. Penistone delights in every way from the thoughtful welcome hamper in the kitchen, cosy pink sofa, comfortable beds and log burner to toast our toes. We rested very well after our walks and it was wonderful to be able to let our little Jack Russell explore the garden, knowing it was secure. We stayed pretty local enjoying walks around the village, exploring local history and revisiting our favourite places, the markets at Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Haworth. Local pub, dog friendly Bay Horse Inn just a short walk away was excellent as is the fish and chip shop -very tasty. Geraldine and Andy proved to be thoughtful and attentive and they made sure we were happy and content. I highly recommend Penistone View with just one problem - we didnât want to leave! Thanks again

The cottage is beautiful and the owners have thought of every detail to make it as comfortable as possible. For us, being doggy friendly is very important and Penistone View is definitely that, The welcome hamper was personalised for our two pooches as well as for ourselves. The decor is amazing and has everything for modern living but has been sensitively set out in keeping with the age of the property with exposed stone walls. The cottage is very cosy and clean with a lovely log burner, super comfortable beds and the bathroom has a great shower as well as a bath to relax in after a day exploring. The neighbours are very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a daily chat over the fence as our dogs said hello. The location is perfect - close to Hebden Bridge and Haworth is a must see with the Bronte parsonage and fabulous independent shops. The village pub (Bay Horse) is very dog friendly, as are the local people and the local Fish and Chip shop offers delicious food. The owners went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay from the start of our stay until the time we left . We just wish we could have stayed longer! We definitely intend to return in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Everything is so well thought out for a lovely dog friendly stay, even down to throws provided for the sofa. Lovely welcome basket which was much appreciated and communication with owner was excellent. The cottage is ideally situated for all the attractions in the area and Oxenhope is a lovely little village in itself. The cottage was really well equipped with everything you could need and the bed was really comfy with nice linen and bedding. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately be back.
