Its location is ideal for exploring the Yorkshire countryside, with easy access to local walks and attractions. The cottage's cosy atmosphere and attentive hosts contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Reviewers frequently mention the pristine condition of the cottage, highlighting its spotlessness and well-maintained appearance. The attention to cleanliness is evident throughout the property, contributing to guests' comfort and satisfaction.

The cottage is lauded for its excellent location in the Yorkshire Dales, with easy access to local walks, villages, and attractions like Haworth and Hebden Bridge. The peaceful garden and country views are also appreciated, enhancing the overall experience.

Facilities are well-received, with the cottage being described as well-equipped and thoughtfully planned. The availability of a log burner, well-appointed kitchen, and secure garden are frequently mentioned. However, a few guests noted the steep stairs and lack of handrail, which could be a consideration for some.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the personalised welcome packs and the provision of dog-friendly amenities. While these gestures are highly valued, it is politely noted that such treats, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Settled in the small village of Oxenhope in West Yorkshire, surrounded by countryside, is this pretty, terraced cottage, Penistone View. Enjoying a blend of contemporary and rustic features, with a stylish kitchen and exposed stone walls, this holiday home makes a wonderful escape for two couples or a family of four. Step inside to discover the living/dining room, where you can unwind with a cup of tea on the sofa, as the woodburning stove flickers before you. Catch-up on much-loved shows on the Smart TV and when stomachs start to rumble, gather around the dining table to tuck-in, why not uncork a bottle of wine to celebrate your getaway? Adjacent, you will find the shaker-style kitchen with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, as well as a dishwasher so you don't need to worry about making a mess! When the sun is shining, venture out into the rear garden to soak in the greenery and take a seat on the furniture to watch the sunset. As the evening cools, retreat indoors and climb upstairs for a bubble-bath or stand under the shower for a hot rinse. When sleep calls, two well-presented double bedrooms await, so why not make a hot chocolate and escape into the pages of a book? In the morning, start your day with a home-cooked breakfast, courtesy of the kitchen appliances before embarking on an outdoor adventure to explore the plethora of walks close-by. Enjoy the peaceful setting of Oxenhope Millennium Green or for a long hike, test your stamina on Bronte way; afterwards you can reward yourself at the local pub, The Bay Horse Inn. From Oxenhope you can catch the train into the village of Haworth, renowned for its association with the Bronte family, where you can visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum and tour the Wuthering Arts to immerse yourself in literature. Jump in the car to explore the market town of Hebden Bridge for a great selection of walks or venture to the town of Skipton for sweeping moors and an ancient castle. For all this and more, escape to Penistone View.

The small community of Oxenhope is surrounded by beautiful landscape and provides access to a variety of treks in the area. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, which was featured in the film The Railway Children and runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley, has its terminal in the village, which has stores, churches, and pubs. The Bronte sisters made the area famous, and the spectacular terrain was notably described as harsh, rough, and desolate in the novel Wuthering Heights.

It was a perfect base to visit nearby places. We enjoyed some lovely walks with the dogs. The dogs enjoyed the enclosed garden and sleeping infront of the log burner fire after a busy day. The cottage itself is charming and quirky with nice dog friendly touches.we had a fab stay and would recommend if wanting to visit the area. Little things to know before you go: - there is a pub, fish and chip shop and a co-op down the road within walking distance - there are loads of nice touches for dogs including bowls, biscuits, blankets so they can cosy up with you on the sofa - take extra logs if you want to use the fire (we recommend as it was very cosy) - a few steps down into the garden can be slippery - low wall at end of garden could be an issue for larger dogs or dogs that like to jump - stairs inside can be slippy too but very manageable if being mindful - parking is a little tight but again manageable we were never able not to park but it's parallel parking outside the property

Nothing to report. Hopefully will be back in the future. Lovely little cottage. Everything that we needed. Oh except a washing machine that I never checked to see if there was one. My bad. Just gave us an excuse to go shopping!! Close to lots of lovely places. Highly recommend.

Lovely decor, comfortable furnishings, cosy and in a great location. Super dog friendly accommodation. Amazing welcome pack for us and the dogs on arrival and owners so helpful and kind. Our holiday flew by and we were sad to leave but will definitely return to this beautiful retreat. Thank you Geraldine, Andy and Angus.
