Ash Tree Barn in Halifax is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its cosy atmosphere, welcoming hosts, and thoughtful touches like complimentary eggs and wine. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped kitchen. Its location offers scenic views, local walks, and proximity to a friendly pub. While some guests found the open-plan layout less private for families and noted minor issues with facilities, the overall sentiment is positive with many looking forward to returning.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found Ash Tree Barn to be spotless and well-prepared for their stay. However, a few mentioned that the kitchen and bathroom required additional cleaning upon arrival, which slightly impacts the overall cleanliness score.

The location is highly praised for its scenic views, proximity to local amenities, and easy access to walking routes. The presence of a cosy pub nearby adds to the appeal. The only drawback mentioned is the visibility when exiting the property.

Guests consistently describe the property as cosy and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed and a cosy lounge. The open-plan layout was not to everyone's taste, especially for those seeking privacy, but overall the comfort level is rated highly.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the well-equipped kitchen. Some guests mentioned issues with shower pressure and temperature, and a lack of clothing storage. The maintenance of outdoor furniture was also noted. These points suggest room for improvement.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome gifts of eggs and wine. It is important to note that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Set on a high promontory overlooking the wild and rugged countryside of Calderdale, this charming, upside-down wing of the owners stone-built farmhouse is situated in the tiny hamlet of Wainstalls one of the locations used in the TV series Happy Valley, just two miles from Luddenden. This lovely, restored property offers wonderful views of the surrounding area and first-class holiday accommodation, ideal for getting away from it all and enjoying a romantic break. It is part of a large, non-working farm and on the first floor, there is a spacious living area with a curved ceiling, modern Velux windows and a large picture window on the gable end to take advantage of the spectacular views across the valley. With a 50" screen television with Netflix, it makes a luxurious sitting area, while the king size bed is positioned to take advantage of the fabulous views. On the ground floor, there is a modern, well-equipped kitchen/diner, a first-class shower room and access to a small patio area, where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine. You can also make use of the owners spacious grounds! The local pub is just a two-minute walk away, renowned for its hospitality, good ale and excellent food, plus there are many inspiring walks across the beautiful moors that can be enjoyed from the doorstep. Hebden Bridge, Haworth and the bustling town of Skipton are all within an easy drive and definitely worth exploring. Look out for the Ted Hughes Festival that takes place in the town of Mytholmroyd, his birthplace, each year, or visit Shibden Hall, an exquisite, six hundred year-old timber manor house set within 37 hectares of the Shibden Valley! This fabulous holiday home is ideal for a couple’s retreat, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy this historic corner of the Yorkshire Dales.

Luddenden, a Conservation village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, close to Hebden Bridge. The village has a lovely church "St Mary's" and a very old pub "The Lord Nelson" where Bramwell Bronte once drank and is asserted to have established the first public library in one of the upstairs rooms.

Beautiful views from the first floor. Good food at the Crossroads Inn a short walk away. Within easy reach of many attractions including the Bronte Parsonage at Haworth and the Rochdale canal at Hebden Bridge. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Our only real issue was the shower in the bathroom, this was a very cold room and the shower very poor in water pressure. Overall we had a good few days only coming back to sleep as our son lives in Hebden bridge and we came to see him and the children.
