Luddenden is a conservation village in Calderdale, close to Hebden Bridge. The community is first mentioned in 1284, and in 1375 a corn mill was moved from Warley Town to exploit the Luddenden Brook. Nearby, the attractive town of Hebden Bridge is the home to the picturesque Rochdale Canal and a delightful Victorian railway station. The town of Mytholmroyd is an easy drive away, the birthplace of Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, and famous for the Cragg Vale Coiners. This is excellent walking country, with the National Trust Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way, plus the area hosted the Tour De France in 2014. Enjoy scenic drives and cycling across the moors, whilst nearby Haworth boasts the Parsonage Museum commemorating the famous Bronte family who lived there. The area is also a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway, whilst Halifax is noted for its unique Piece Hall, Dean Clough mill complex of art galleries, theaters and restaurants, as well as the highly-acclaimed Eureka Children’s Museum.

The cottage was very spacious for two people and had the bonus of a utility room (where you enter the property through) which is great to store your muddy boots and gear. The bathroom has the bonus of a bath and shower, and the bedroom has enough storage to unpack your cases fully. The lounge and kitchen are open plan- again plenty big enough, although we would have liked more kitchen utensils (pots and pans) to cook with. For those wanting access to WiFi please be aware that the signal in this area is poor and we could not access the Internet most of the time. The location of the cottage is perfect for those wish to explore the surrounding countryside or who need an easy commute to Warley, Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall or Halifax town. It may be worth noting that the drive to the cottage involves a few steep hairpin lanes which are not for the inexperienced driver. Overall, we would definitely recommend this cottage. Rachel was very welcoming and always available to answer any questions. There is also parking at the property.
