Nestled on the northern fringes of the Forest of Bowland, just off the outskirts of Austwick and the limestone scars of the Yorkshire Dales, is Orcaber Farm Retreat. Head into the lounge, on return from a long walk through heather-clad moors and windswept valleys and relax on the sumptuous sofa in front of the fabulous woodburning stove, taking centre stage on one side of the room. This open-plan living space also showcases a modern, well-equipped kitchen for you to prepare home-cooked meals together and dine at the table for two over a delicious bottle of wine. The décor is light and neutral and there are picture frames to brighten up your day, with images of the local area. Catch up on your day and make the most of an evening in before retiring to the super king-size double bedroom. Indulge with a hot soak in the stunning, freestanding bath tub, tucked into one corner of the room, or head into the en-suite for a refreshing shower before heading to bed. You also have plenty of storage to stow away your belongings and a dressing table to get ready at each morning, as well as bedside tables and considered lighting. Sit out on a balmy afternoon in the enclosed garden and watch the world go by with a refreshing drink in hand, as a horse greets you at the fence from the stable opposite. Head into the cosy village of Austwick and enjoy a night off from the cooking for a change by paying a visit to the local pub, serving home-cooked food. Set off the beaten track, you have access to many rural corners hosting a wealth of walking and cycling trails enveloped by stunning landscape scenery. You are within reach of the market towns of Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale, Skipton and Kendal, while the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland beckon with plenty of walking and cycling routes.

Loved the log fire with plenty of logs for us to use and bathing in the copper bath was absolute luxury. Amazing location , with so much to do in the area , friendly owners the flowers and the bowl of sweets were greatly enjoyed thank you . If I had one suggestion to enhance the stay It would be to have more plates, cups , bowls , cutlery etc so that we could have used the dish washer with a couple of days worth of crockery rather than having to do the dishes as we would need things for the next meal . We didnât have a chance to see the owners on our departure so would really appreciate it if you could pass on our thanks Kind Regards Allison

Great location for exploring the Dales. The weather was great during our stay but this would also be a cosy place to stay during the winter. We will definitely be back!

The cottage is super comfortable with a giant relaxing sofa, super king-size bed and heated floor in the bathroom. The location is great, set in beautiful countryside and handy for shops in nearby Austwick and Settle. Neil and Gaynor were really friendly and helpful and we appreciated the fresh flowers on arrival and the sweets on the coffee table. I loved seeing the horses in harness passing by the window and the newly arrived foals. We will be back!
