The village of Hellifield lies between Settle and Skipton at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a thriving, small community with a local pub, scattering of small shops, a renowned butcher's and historic railway station. The village nestles amongst the most picturesque rolling countryside, beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes. Hellifield grew as an important agricultural centre, where the moorlands of the Dales meet the pasturelands of the Ribble Valley, and boasted one of the most important livestock markets in the North of England for many years. It later developed into a railway centre and the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Hellifield is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.

Such a beautiful location and quite central to visit points of interest. Having the hot tub was a bonus. Clean and comfortable.

It is clear that the owner has invested in some high end appliances which makes self catering a good experience. The cottage was warm and cosy, set in a quiet road, we hardly saw anyone. Parking was not an issue. The hot tub was a really lovely bonus and the towels from that never undersold department store were very welcoming. We went to Skipton on the train picking up from Hellifield station. We also found that the location of the cottage was good for all the local attractions. We would certainly use it again.

Only slight comment was that both bins were full and no instructions as to where and when the bins were to placed for emptying Otherwise a most enjoyable stay with plenty of things to see and do in the area.
