Herriots House in Skipton is highly praised for its comfortable beds, high-quality furnishings, and excellent location near the town centre and scenic canal. The property's outdoor space, including a hot tub, is a highlight, although the separate lounge area received mixed feedback. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and the en suite bathrooms in every bedroom.
Guests consistently report that the property is beautifully clean and spotless upon arrival, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The property's location is frequently lauded for its proximity to Skipton town centre, the canal, parks, and supermarkets, making it an ideal base for exploring.
The comfort of the beds and the quality of the furnishings are often highlighted, although there are some comments about uncomfortable low-down beds and a desire for a more accessible lounge.
Facilities like the hot tub and kitchen equipment are well-received, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as leaks and electrical problems, which slightly lower the score.
Guests mention a generous welcome hamper and the provision of dog baskets, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, this is a gesture that may vary.

The bedrooms are very comfortable, kitchen well equipped and outdoor area pleasant. The perimeter wall at back of house, overlooking the sitting area, is badly in need of some TLC. The outside shower wasn't working. The dishwasher to the right of the sink was not draining, a previous review also drew attention to this problem. The cot we requested was damp, mouldy and not fit for purpose. This was quickly rectified but the odour/appearance should have alerted staff who left it for our use. The washing machine and dryer were located in a damp, dirty cellar. The lounge areas, in the annex, were not suitable in evenings leaving young children sleeping unsupervised in main house. We have been booking holiday properties for 7 years. We felt a little disappointed but didn't let it spoil our week.

All five bedrooms had an en-suite which was brilliant. The outdoor space with the hot tub was a great hit, especially with our teenager grandchildren. My only small criticism would be to ge5 rid of the swing seat in the downstairs living area and replace it with a more comfortable settee. To accommodate more people. There were more settees upstairs but that had no window and. was a bit dark, this was also commandeered by the teenagers. All in all, the week was a great success and enjoyed by all 11 members of our family.
