Guests say

Wising Gill House is consistently praised for its comfort, well-equipped kitchen, and quality bedding. The location in the Yorkshire moors is appreciated for its stunning views and proximity to local pubs and walks. Guests find the property clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with modern amenities like WiFi and smart TVs. Some minor issues are mentioned, but the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a recommended stay for those seeking a peaceful countryside retreat.

Guests frequently commend the property for its cleanliness, with several reviews highlighting the immaculate condition upon arrival. There is a single mention of dog hair under a sofa, but this appears to be an isolated incident rather than a common concern.

The property's location is celebrated for its beautiful setting and convenience for local walks and a nearby pub. However, some guests note the lack of nearby shops and the property's position at the top of a steep hill, which may not be suitable for all.

The comfort of the property is a highlight in the reviews, with guests expressing satisfaction with the comfortable beds, sofas, and overall cosy atmosphere. The property is described as spacious and peaceful, contributing to a relaxing stay.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and quality equipment. Some guests mention minor issues such as missing instructions for appliances and a desire for additional toiletries. The mention of a garden gate that could allow dogs to escape suggests room for improvement in maintenance.

Several reviews mention welcome gifts such as wine and biscuits, which are appreciated by guests. However, as these gifts are not consistently referenced in all reviews, it is politely noted that such gestures, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Lofthouse 1.1 mile. Sitting in the quiet and tranquil village of Middlesmoor, North Yorkshire, is Wising Gill House, a wonderful, end-terrace cottage. This is an ideal dwelling for a large family or group of friends seeking the great outdoors and a quieter retreat from the hustle and bustle. Parking in the off-road parking spaces, you are greeted by the traditional exterior of the stone wall cottage in a remote area surrounded by peaceful countryside. However, Wising Gill House offers a stunning, contemporary interior where you will find fantastic amenities to make your stay a comfortable one; a stylish, open-plan living space is the heart of the cottage, where you and your guests can host dinner around the dining table for six, make use of the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a hearty, pre-hike breakfast, and collapse on the sofas in the evening to reflect on the day's adventures. A neighbouring snug is an extra space to unwind, with more inviting sofas and a Smart TV for evening entertainment. Find the washing machine and tumble dryer to chuck in muddy clothes in the utility, whilst a handy ground-floor cloakroom has a basin, heated towel rail and WC. Heading upstairs, Wising Gill House offers fabulous views across the rolling valley from three minimal, smartly furnished bedrooms and a bathroom. A king-size bedroom has a convenient en-suite shower room, alongside a double, a twin and a spacious bathroom, where you can warm your towel on the heated towel rail whilst you rinse off the day or soak in the tub. Take time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings on the rear, enclosed patio, where you can sit quietly with your morning coffee, or gather the group for an evening drink on the outdoor seating under the stars. In Middlesmoor you will find more breath-taking, panoramic views from this elevated position overlooking the countryside, with plenty of walking routes, as well as a traditional pub for delicious dinners, whilst shops to stock up the kitchen are a short journey down the hill in Lofthouse. For a livelier market town, head south to Pateley Bridge in the centre of Nidderdale with an idyllic high street, where you can discover local history at the Nidderdale Museum, dine at the lovely riverside tea room, or visit The Oldest Sweet Shop in the World, built in 1616. The fascinating remains of the medieval Fountains Abbey are a short journey east and well-worth a visit, surrounded by 18th-century gardens to explore and stunning scenic views. Journey south west to Grassington for a perfect base before heading off into the Yorkshire Dales, with a cobbled market square for shops and eateries, the picturesque Linton Falls along the River Wharfe, and the fascinating Folk Museum full of local culture. Harrogate sits a little further south and is a picturesque town home to a golf club, the pretty Valley Gardens ideal for picnics in the sunshine, or catch a performance at one of Harrogate's historic theatres. For a picture-perfect escape to the Yorkshire Dales, Wising Gill House is a wonderful base to return to and enjoy time with loved ones.

Nestled amongst the remarkable scenery of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty rests the charming village of Lofthouse. Home to a quintessentially English pub, The Crown, as well as a Post Office with a well-stocked convenience store, this quaint village offers all of the essentials for an enjoyable staycation. ). The welcome biscuit pack was a nice touch. Would have given it 5 stars but for the lack of a cupboard or shelving in ensuite, also no curtain at the patio doors.

Several reasons we would not return though. Generally the cleanliness was not up to standard, difficult to see out of the windows due to grime, terrible smell when we entered. Heating not accessible to guests, hot water not plentiful.

Very clean and kitchen was well equipped. Comfy beds too. Biscuits, coffee machine and capsules were nice extras. Location was great for walking but no shops near by and local pub was not serving food when we got there so you may want to stock up before arriving. Shops can be found about 20/25 min drive away.
