The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday and Saturday market is held. There are lots of walks around the area, including a 10-mile walk along the Ure, arguably one of the best in the UK. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known perhaps as the home of two breweries Theakstons of Old Peculiar fame and the Black Sheep Brewery, which now brews 11 million pints of beer a year! The Stables was cosy and warm and the oil-fired central heating was excellent. On arrival we were greeted by Amie, the owner, and shown around the property. During the last night there was heavy snow and our departure was delayed until we could access the roads. Amie offered us a free extra night if we could not manage to leave the property. Fortunately we were able to drive on the very snowy roads and leave around midday. Amie was a great host and we would not hesitate to visit again during the summer.

There are lots of walks on the doorstep. The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. Very dog friendly property. One of the nicest places that we have stayed in. We highly recommend this property.

The cottage was lovely, so clean and comfortable and perfect for our dog with having the enclosed back garden. We certainly would stay at 'The Stables' again.
