Guests say

Miss Burrow's House in Hawes is highly praised for its cleanliness, Victorian charm, and thoughtful touches. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, welcoming atmosphere, and the property's proximity to local walks and the town centre. The cottage is well-equipped for families and pets, with many enjoying the scenic views and festive decorations during holiday stays. Some minor feedback on maintenance and clarity on recycling is noted, but overall, guests are eager to return to this delightful cottage.

Guests consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as 'very clean and well presented'. One review noted a stained duvet and dog hairs, but this seems an isolated incident against the overall high praise.

The location is celebrated for its proximity to Hawes and local walks, with guests enjoying the convenience and scenery. Parking is a short walk away, which is generally not an issue, but some guests noted minor difficulties.

The property is frequently described as comfortable, with special mentions of the sofas and beds. However, one guest found the single beds in the twin room uncomfortable, slightly impacting the score.

Facilities are well-regarded, with the property equipped with everything needed for a stay. There are mentions of a well-thought-out guest folder and games for families. Some maintenance issues were raised, such as the slipped lead flashing, which suggests room for improvement.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is frequently commended, with mentions of welcome packs and festive decorations. While these gifts are warmly received, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.

Very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the guest folder very useful. We had a great holiday. Wasn't sure what to recycle and where as recycling varies so much across the country. Perhaps a note in the folder would help. We came into Hawes from Hardraw due to an A684 diversion and I wasn't entirely sure where the property and access was. Perhaps a little more explanation in the joining instructions to identify the access to the rear of the property between the cottages and the sheds. Tried to get hold of the housekeeper to get advice on the recycling but the phone went to voicemail and the calls were not returned. Eventually managed it via a text as he's was away for a couple of days but. might be useful if that number could be transferred in the event of any major problem. I noticed that the lead flashing above the right hand side of the sitting room bay window had slipped forward. I suspect that if left, there will be the possibility of water ingress and damage. Thank you for a lovely time. You may only wish to publish the first section of this feed back as the rest is advice for the owners.
