The Old Cart House receives high praise for its stunning location, spaciousness, and the charm of being on a working farm. Guests enjoy the proximity to wildlife, the friendly owners, and the property's suitability for large groups and families. The idyllic setting and ample opportunities for exploration and relaxation contribute to its appeal, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Guests consistently note the property as spotlessly clean, with only one mention of an odd smell in an upstairs bathroom. The overall emphasis on cleanliness suggests a high standard maintained by the owners.
The location is repeatedly described as stunning, idyllic, and perfect for exploring the moors and nearby villages. The serene setting and beautiful views are major highlights for guests.
The property is praised for its comfortable beds and effective heating. However, a few guests suggest that some mattresses could be improved, and additional bathrooms would benefit large parties.
Facilities are generally well-received, with special mentions of the well-equipped kitchen and the open-plan living space. Some guests note the need for sharper knives and a larger fridge, indicating room for improvement.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack, Christmas decorations, and baby gates. While gifts like wine and sloe gin are mentioned, it's important to note that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.

However there were a lot of cobwebs which again it is a working farm and the cottage has an abundance of nooks and crannies which gather dust webs! The layout of the building was absolutely perfect for our family and we were all absolutely blown away by the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. There was plenty of room for the seven humans and one pooch. The views are spectacular and the silence is divine! We will most definitely be coming back as it is a perfect location to explore the area. Pub down the lane does food but three out of the six meals we ordered were a little disappointing and the menu was a little expensive. We used the coal BBQ twice and spent the afternoons on the veranda with a few beverages watching the farmer working hard in the fields. The children were amused by the ducks, geese and even the peacocks played the game and shook their tails. Thank you so much for an amazing stay.

The owners are lovely, the Old Carthouse is just oozing with character with lots of space and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed the walks and everything about our stay. Compared to other properties weâve stayed in the Old Carhouse has many kitchen utensils, pans, cutlery plus more which was great for us as we had quite a few family visitors to cook for. Also, whilst cooking, we also enjoyed the sheepâs company who often just gazed through the kitchen window. Weâre looking forward to our return
