Downstairs, there is a sitting room, with beamed ceilings and a warming open fire, perfect for a romantic night in. The separate dining room and sleek kitchen caters for family needs, whilst upstairs, there are two neat bedrooms. The back door opens onto a delightful and very private rear garden, where you can relax in the sunshine, with a morning coffee, before heading off for the day. A short walk up the hill brings you to the castle ruins, whilst a gentle stroll down the hill brings you into the hustle and bustle of this popular town, with restaurants, quaint tea rooms, pubs, independent shops, and a twice weekly market held in the main street. Pickering is known as the Gateway to the North York Moors National Park, with fabulous walking and cycling opportunities over the stunning moorland and quiet country lanes. A must is a nostalgic trip on the famous steam railway, that winds its way through wonderful scenery, from Pickering to Grosmont, or if you fancy trying your hand at trout fishing, there’s plenty of opportunity nearby. The seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough are just a scenic drive away and nearby York is the ideal place for a day out, with its Viking Museum, National Railway Museum and Minster. 12 Castlegate provides a warm and welcoming stay, whatever time of the year.
